Yes 7 year old stock Dunlops, and I wonder how far I can push it. At one point I wanted to get new tires, but now I'm thrilled that these have lasted so long. Still enough tread on them for 7 more years or so, but there is some minor sidewall cracking. The spare has never been lowered and is in perfect condition. Should I keep the spare if and when I get new ones? Anyone want to hedge your bets on how much further I go without a blowout?

Time to get new tires. And replace your spare at the same time. Here a good article from Edmunds discussing the issue.

Tread looks fine but with sidewall cracking I think it's time to bite the bullet and get some new shoes. And if it were mine I would replace the spare as well.

It'll ride better with something nicer. I'm a big fan of Michelins.

Pains me they put such shit tires on these in the first place. I bought a brand new 2013 in June, and it seems like such a waste to replace the tires after only a year, but these Dunlops...they're pretty poor tires and don't ride well. However, gotta replace my rear springs first.

Years is nothing, how many miles are on them?

Either way, that's 7 years too long on those shitty tires...

Switched out my dunlops at 3k miles because my driving experience with them were horrible, can't imagine having them on for 7 years. Time to invest in new tires, and find out how it feels to have a nice set.

    I love my Michelin ms2

Yeah everyone says they are shitty tires but they have been great to me for what I use them for, which ain't much lol. 39,500 miles. A couple circle 8's in a wet field and it was all the kicks I needed. Never doing that again as it was not much fun having to clean out the entire engine compartment. Only future off-roading will be for surf fishing.

I am liking the bridgestones. Local tire guy says I need them bad, but I'm sure he tells that to every cheap asshole. :D Which I can be at times admittedly.

I got about 49k miles in mine, about 5 years now haha. Looking at them, they have about 1/4 life in them. Just waiting on that bonus to get new tires.

I live in the country. Just use my Camry when the wife doesn't have to work and carpool with her when we have similar hours.

Sounds like I can get another 10 - 40k miles out of this set then :D

    Replace tires after 6 years:
    http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=138

Spare can stay if you intend to treat it as a compact spare (i.e. max 50 miles under 50 mph).

Good info and good read, thanks for the link. At the tail end of the article the final assessment is:

Our experience has been that when properly stored and cared for, most street tires have a useful life in service of between six to ten years.

Tires can actually last a very long time, depending on the conditions that it is used in.
These BFGs are 27 years old and actually don't look bad at all (but they were garage kept and have seen very little road time, and no off-road time)
