This is one of the few mods that goes against every shred of logic in my brain. Why would you black out your head lights when you want your head lights to make it bright when it is dark?

There is no way they are as bright after you black them out right? In my mind it is like tinting a window, less light passes through. Right? or is it some magic shit that makes it just as bright.

You dont black out the lens or the reflector, only the surroundings.

This. Plus it looks cool. Now if someone tints the lens, that seems pointless imo.

No you don't paint the lens or reflector (unless you do a retrofit)

It's basically to get rid of chrome. Take a chromed out front end, paint the grille and do the black headlight mod (I painted my reflectors too because I did a retrofit and do not need the chrome for reflection)

Messed in the head = yes! IMO at least... But ya it's just for looks and yes it does reduce the light output in exactly the way you're thinking.. Seem people just wanna have it completely blacked out and don't care about the risk they're taking with less visibility..

Blacking out the headlight lens is illegal and tinting the tails shoud be if it isn't.

    Too many to list.

I agree completely, I've nearly rear-ended people because I couldn't see their brake lights...

Those pictured above on the headlights are actually removable lens covers. But I do agree that it's dumb at a certain point.

My rear lights are spray tinted. I didn't cover the reverse light part. My lights look as bright as they did before. Its illegal hear but cops don't notice when they are painted. The notice the film it lets a lot less light out. I did the top portion of my head lights doesn't effect light at all. looks good

2 1/2 inch lift in front. 3 1/2 in back. Blacked out tail lights (ventshade). Running Boards. Bull Bar.
It's purely for look. I personally think it looks really cool. The auto Ventshade Tail Light covers actually let out a lot of light, but the headlight covers (as pictured above) decrease light output quite a lot. Turning on the fog lights helps a lot when you use the headlight covers.
