    Hello all,

I've got a plan put together and wanted to run it by you guys before I went forward.

Currently, I have a set of Vision X offroad lights on my truck. They have a low beam and a high beam and work great.

    Here's what I have:
    http://www.visionxwholesale.com/products/Vision-X-VX%2d6504-180-Watt-Halogen-Hi-or-Lo-Beam-Lamp.html

What I always wanted was the HID version:
    http://www.visionxwholesale.com/vision-x-hid-6505-35-watt-hid-high-or-low-beam-lamp/

Now, Vision X says that my current halogen lights are upgradeable to their HID setup, but they no longer sell the upgrade. So, I was thinking about using this, going with the 55w, 4300k option:
    http://www.theretrofitsource.com/product_info.php?products_id=12824

Here's my questions for you all.

    1. Do any of you have experience with Morimoto products? (are there any obvious issues that I might run into)

    2. I currently run my low beams on the street without issue. Do you think that the HID upgrade will change that? (I took pictures of my light spread on my build thread and also included a comparison to the HIDs on my car)

I'd appreciate any inputs or experiences that you all have.

    1. TRS has very high standards and does their own quality control to much higher standards than usual HID suppliers. You should have no issues with longevity, and if something does occur, the guys at TRS stand behind their products. Remember, they have full control over the morimoto line and have items built to their specs.... They dont just settle for whatever is available.

    2. Please dont run offroad lights with other traffic around

    3. Call them and tell them ur plans....... They may have some ideas to help you out. These guys are hands on, so if u ever have to call while ur baking headlights or something, u dont need to explain anymore than that and they will know ur in a hurry. Been there done that myself, great guys. Being hands on, they can "see" more over the phone than someone who just "sells" a product.

Thanks for the input. Sounds like TRS would be the right company to go with. I'll give them a call to confirm that the H4 kit is the right one.

If everything goes well, I'll update this thread with install info and pics as well.

So, I have a little update on my project. I'm still waiting on my h13 harness from TRS, but I modified one light and gave it a test yesterday. Here's what I did:

First, I widened the pass through on the housing to fit connectors through. It turns out that there isn't enough room to fit the ballasts inside the housing, so I'll mount them under the hood.

Here's what the pig tail looks like. I'm getting a rubber grommet to fill that big hole.

Finally, I test fired one 55w HID and compared it to my buddy's Mazdaspeed 3. (His HIDs are unusually dim. I'll compare against the Evo after I get everything into the truck)

Here's a shot of the HID in low and my low beams on. The light needs a little adjustment but it's a fairly clean pattern.

I throw another update up, when I get the system together. Also, I forgot to get pics of hi beams, so I'll get that up here as well.
