Bumper install...the vampire stakes certainly helped get it to the right elevation...

Awesome project for a dad and son to take on together! I have seen your T4R build, and really loved it, so I can't wait to see what you and your son put together here.

    Thanks guys.

Bad News: took it in today to get off-road suspension/lift installed. The mech called and said the lower control arms are seized. Cost to cut them out and replace is about $800. Ouch! New LCAs have lifetime guarantee.

What's the verdict on the suspension? Did you get it all squared away?

Yes, it required replacing the LCAs. The new LCAs have lifetime warranty, so if they get stuck--which they shouldn't because proper lube was applied--4 Wheel Parts will replace for free.

New Bilstein coilovers in front for a 2" lift, new Bilstein shocks in rear with block for 1" lift.

    New LCA...

Since this was purchased at 126,000 miles, we decided to do the following maint:

    - run Seafoam through vac line (truck smoked for 2 days)
    - change spark plugs
    - clean throttle body
    - clean MAF sensor

I got a call from my son informing me that he was stuck. In the mud. No other rig. Yes, he went all 4 wheels in. I used iPhone tracker to locate him and perform the extraction.

This little mishap included turning the OEM skid plate into a earth-mover. Front plate was destroyed. Fortunately, TRDParts4U (Dallas Toyota) had a RCI Tacoma skid plate in-stock. Conner spent the next day cleaning out the mud and replacing the OEM plates with the RCI skid.

Needs a front bumper (ordered one a long time ago...still waiting)

Needs more flex for rear axle. Not sure what to do there...replace leaf springs?
