I have 2 big dogs and at least 1 always goes for a ride and has to sit in the truck while I run my errands. I got tired of fixing the carpet and blanket I had laid out for them. I had some extra material laying around and an open weekend so I decided to make a dog bed that fit.

    Here is the result:

I priced out materials and time to put it together and it comes out to be about $200. A bit pricey but worth the effort to make a comfy pooch and a cleaner looking truck.

The finished dimensions are 56"X24"X4". You basically sew a fabric box and insert your foam. Not bad for a weekend project!

Really not a fan of that for most situations, we can argue all day and probably come to no change in habits and beliefs.

Looking good, what did you make that out of?

And I agree, I would never put my dog in the bed of the truck, unless I had one of those hunting dog boxes. And even then I prefer to keep him in the cab.

I made this out of a pop up canopy cover that blew over in a wind storm and folded up the metal. The innerds came from an old memory foam dog bed that the dogs had tore up. I just measured the space and added about 1/4" for the inseam. I had a 24" zipper from another project I was working on and with my limited sewing skills threw it together in an afternoon.

I am thinking of making another one out of duck cloth (or heavy canvas) with a softer top. It will also have a two inch foam with the memory foam (one inch) glued on top. The dogs wont try and fluff it up since it should be soft yet firm enough for the pooches. This one will be professionally done though since my sewing skills aren't that great.

If you are interested PM me and I will make another one and send you pics. If you like I can make more of them. They are not cheap though. the memory foam is by far the most expensive part. I priced the materials new and it was close to $100 or more depending on materials and sales. Plan on $200 and you won't be disappointed.
