Just wanted to ask you guys if you think a 14 gauge wire would suffice in replacing the small ground wire that attaches to the negative battery terminal. I have to replace mine, because it is too short- when we were throwing the engine back in the truck after the rebuild, we noticed that this wire was really mangled, and so we had to cut it down some. It seems we definitely cut it too short though, because yesterday, it decided to pull out and separate. I went to turn the truck on, and all I got was a single tick. I knew it had to be that short wire. So now sometimes when I go to drive, it'll do that, and I have to fumble around with the wire for a minute until it finds connection.
Just to clear up any confusion that my wording might have brought about, I'm talking about this little wire right here, the one that grounds to the side of the truck:

So should a 14-gauge wire suffice for this? It's not too big or too small of a gauge?
    Thanks!

Looks like 10 or 8 originally. Electricity takes the path of least resistance, so I would go with the OEM size. 14 might be enough to get you to the auto parts store, though.

Agreed. I would do 10 gauge on that wire.

Amperage goes in, amperage comes out. Ground and good enough don't equate. Ground is just as important as +

I exchanged the 14 gauge for some 10 up at Advance. Thanks, guys! I'll let you guys know how it goes. Shouldn't be any problems.
