Do these have heat function?

 

Has anyone posted instructions with pictures on the conversion? If not I'm going to pull the trigger on a set of 4runner mirrors off ebay and can draft instructions (less the blinkers).

Why do you need 4runner mirrors without the blinkers? Is it the heat function you want?

Sorry this is a crappy low res edit but you can retain the 4Runner brackets if needed. You will need to trim either the plastic base (from Tacoma) or the 4 Runner bracket. I chose the bracket.

1. Cut / grind knob until flush with surface
2. Cut / grind knob until flush with surface
3. Cut / grind this area minimally as it will hit on the plastic base. Or grind the plastic base where it hits.

 

I just wanted to say thanks to the members on this thread for their input on the installation of the 4Runner mirrors. I finished this mod up a few weeks ago on my truck and am very happy with the results.

 

Has anyone thought of putting in blind spot assist? Just curious.

 

Is that the system that has the little glowing icon in the mirror if someone is in your blind spot?

 

Yes I have, but the sensors on the siennas etc are on the rear bumpers
I could make the sensors myself...but I would need the mirror insert alone and run the wiring for that...just haven't fully looked into it

 

Anything is possible.

 

I finally got around to doing this mod today with OEM 4runner mirrors and a highlander switch for the dash. So glad I did it! Thanks for the write up!

Does anyone know if tundra mirrors would bolt right up? I have been looking around and they look close

Would like to do this to mine. Don't really need the heated mirrors, but the turn signal and foot lamp would be nice to have!

 

I am planning on doing this, but am wondering why we would need to use the $60 heated mirror switch and not just a generic switch? What are the two green wires being used for in the spare harness? Also does that extra plug fit into the back of the heated mirror switch?

and one more thing, has anyone tried the new 2014/15 mirrors? personally I think they are a little too sleek and look like they should be on a car, but someone might be interested.

 

The big money switch fits perfectly in the opening.. it looks and is OEM.

The 2 green wires control the switch's backlighting intensity. The switch will dim along with the other instruments when adjusting the brightness.
