Would You Get a New Tacoma or Keep the One You Have

If the cost of a new Tacoma was not an issue, would you:

  1. I'd keep my older 2nd Generation Tacoma.

I have a 2007 DCSB 4X4. It's been a 99K mile trouble free daily driver. I like the firm, more comfortable seats, and interior of the newer trucks in general.

MY2007, Great Truck! Can only hope the new one is as good.

The 2014 will be the 10th year of the 2nd generation Tacoma. Do you think it's a better truck than the earlier years? Would you keep your older 2nd generation Tacoma or if you were offered a great price on a new one, would you go for the new one?

MY2014, another good looking truck! Time will tell if the new ones are built as well as the older trucks.

Keep it... I'm assuming it's paid off... no car payment > car payment.

What he said. With the money of no car payment you could redo your seats to get a more comfortable ride.

I like getting new vehicles, I'd be taking all that awesome equity and putting it down on a new one......or a Tundra.

I agree, this is what I was thinking until I found a 2014 at a great price that has leather seats. Also, it's not that money is no concern but with the way a Tacoma holds their value, selling the one I have and putting that money down on a new one results is a very manageable payment.

The Tundra is a beautiful truck. I'd have another big vehicle if I didn't have to put $75 to $100 in gas in it every 4 to 5 days!

I'm guessing by your post you're wanting one and you're looking for the "right justification" to make a larger purchase when you already have a suitable truck. That's me.

I'm one of those who likes new vehicles. I drive 40k miles a year or so and about had myself talked into a TDI product a few months ago but, reality set in and after reviewing the reliability it's out (for now). Granted I'd love a small diesel car getting huge MPGs but I can buy a lot of gas for the price of a car.

So now I'm debating keeping the Taco or getting a 4Runner. Again, and where you're at, truck runs fine with ZERO issues. I just want a new something. Vehicles are a weak spot when it comes managing my $$ so I won't let myself trade or sell if I'm upside down. You're not so, I say go for it.

I got a 2011 in July 2012. It had 8000 miles on it. Now it has 50000. Close to 15000 are off road miles from easy to close to the limits of a stock tacoma. Thing has been absolutely trouble free. It will be paid off in less than a year. I plan on keeping it for the 9 years. I think it will eventually be a trail only rig. I know there are better trail vehicles, but I love this truck.

Once it is no longer my daily driver I have big plans for it.

So I chose keep the one I have even though it sort of is a newer tacoma.

sell it and get a 2014, even if they do a redesign it would take about 3 years to work all the bugs out.

I am keeping my truck. Not getting rid of it, unless something unfortunate happens to it (which I'm hoping will not happen).

I wish I kept my 2012 prerunner and gave it to my wife. Instead of trading it in for my 4x4.

    .
I was having a discussion with one of the mods here and we were agreeing that the 2007 year is probably the best year of Tacoma ever built. It was built at NUMMI in California, all the new generation bugs had been worked out, it's before all that electronic crap like ATRAC. It has been extremely reliable for me. Would I buy another? Sure, but I am never selling this one.

I keep seeing post like that and it makes me not want to give up my 08 for a 10. But i'd be gaining the off road package, less miles, and a towing package.....so torn....
