DRL Dumb Question

Here comes a really dumb question. From my searching on here, everyone refers light inside (closer to the center of the vehicle) as their DRL. This light on my truck is my turn signal and the outside lights are my DRL. What am I not getting?

 

Is the turn signal light also the DTRL?

On some tacomas....it appears to be. My DTRLs are the marker lights like yours. I don't know why some use the amber lights closet to the grill for DTRLs. And its not a dumb question, i don't understand it either

 

My DRLs were the corners too, hated it. I like the look of the turn signals as DRLs, so I did it myself. Not the best write-up, but it was a super easy mod...

Hang on , are you guys talking about parking lights or DTRL's ?

You guys that say your outside ambers are your DTRL's , do they automatically come on or do you need to select them with the light stalk on the steering column ?

 

On my 2005 they were turned on with one click of the headlight switch, and only my outside corner lights came on.

DTRL's should come on automatically , at least they do on the Canadian trucks because DTRL's are the law here and they are the turning signals

 

Probably not a bad law. I like that Maryland has the law "you must have your headlights on when your wipers are on" because we get some crazy weather sometimes and you can see all of the out of state people not following the law lol

 

Either way, my trucks amber turn signal lights would never come on, unless indicating a turn signal, changed that I did.

Here's my truck with the DTRL's on , they come on automatically when the truck is on and the parking brake released

 

DTRL are on automatically. Only time they turn off is when I turn the headlights on.

 

So I am assuming I do not have DRLs then because the inner light only comes on during signaling and the outside light (parking) only comes on when I turn my headlight switch one or two clicks.

 

On the '13's and '14's in the US , they are selectable on the light stem on the steering column

Haven't driven a 13-14 Tacoma but it is this way on our 2010 4runner that it can be turned totally off.

People are mistaking the parking lights for DTRL.
DTRL are port installed here in California as I believe they are required by law.

 

My 12 also is selectable.
