This is going to be a very mild build. I previously had a 2002 Tacoma which was built with All Pro suspension and armor. I loved that truck, but had to let it go when we had our daughter as I needed a back seat. I then built a Xterra which was nice until the transmission blew up 2 months ago.

So this leads me to this little gem. I want it to have great road manners and be able to handle mild/moderate trails. I pull a little pop up trailer that is fit with a spring over axle lift and ATs.

The day I bought it: New to me, 75K on the odometer.

First took off the step rails and mud flaps.

    Relocated the broken trailer plug.

    Then Bilstein 5100's with AAL.

    New Hankook Dynapro 265/75/16.

Wanted some more storage, but didn't want a topper or tanneau cover, as I put bikes in the back quite a bit. Came up with this, very happy with the final product.

very nice! I always thought of doing something in the rear like that but just got a great deal on a bakflip G2 and now confused how to transport my bike!

I'm happy with the way that it turned out. It was about $150 in material, and I figure I can add tie downs etc as needed. I wasn't going to build the drawers, but the left over plywood from the top split in half worked perfectly for the bottoms of the drawers. Bikes can be fork mounted against the cab, and the rear tire sits on the platform. I have an XL Tallboy that barely fit in the SB, and actually fits better now with the platform.

Sub'd this thread. I have the same truck pretty much as you, nice build so far. Can't wait to see more progression.

It's been a while since I've posted, but I've been busy:
    BAMF sliders
    OME 885s
    OME Dakars
    Leer topper, Monstalined grey
    LED light bar up front
    LED pods in rear bumper
Inverter with power to the bed
    Prinsu rack
    2016 wheels
    Cooper Discoverer ST Maxx 265/75/16

    Very happy with the progress!

It almost looks like your fenders are colour matched to your shell in that pic. Am I crazy?

The shell is a close match, but not exact. It really depends on the lighting. It's done with DIY bedliner. It came out pretty good considering what the shell looked like when I got it.
