Its been -55 here for the past month and I cant steer the truck without my gloves and hands freezing to the steering wheel and Yes , it is that cold !!!
Do any of you guys have a heated wheel or a thick wheel cover you could suggest . Did a search but nothing comes up other than more questions regarding a heated wheel .
I am almost to the point of picking up some elements and building my own .

I have a perfect suggestion.... Move south! If it's so cold your gloves stick to the wheel that's mother natures way of telling you that you probably shouldn't be there

What about those cheapo hand warmers... Jam them in your gloves and see if they'll prevent the sticking.

Have you actually used this one? From the odd review I came across, the mfr hasn't figured out how to deal with multiple turns of the steering wheel. This means you have to unplug the thing before driving, or the cord will get tangled up.

Short of putting a small space heater in the truck and plugging it in an hour before you use it I don't know what to tell you.

Its the metal steering wheel thats ice cold and takes forever to warm up .
The steering wheel is sooooo cold , you have to take turns with your hands or simply let them freeze to the steering wheel ...rather painfull .

.The factory leather steering wheel cover doesnt do much to keep the hands warm . Got no choice but to wear snowmobile mitts while driving . The space heater will only heat the cab air space . I have two of them ( made by Buddy ) in the truck mounted on the floor and i warm the cab 15 minutes before even consider driving the truck . I continue blowing the breaker in my garage with twin block heaters , two cab heaters and a transmission heater .
EDIT : forgot to mention the battery blanket .
The factory heater will not warm the metal steering wheel regardless of how I point the diffusers .
I would look into moving South but gotta find a job there before i move lol .
Who has the link to that fluffy white cover shown above ?
Although its Fugly ,I have to try something .

Apply glue to the steering wheel and cover it in chicken feathers. [IMG]

The Lexus LX 570 has a heated steering wheel as an option .
Trying to find a wiring schematic to see if I can get this critter fitted for the Tacoma wheel but it looks like the heating element is covering the steering wheel at the 3 and 9 pm location . My quest continues .

I need someone who can get into the Lexus parts and find me the clock spring with the spiral cable, the two black heated handles for the steering wheel and the wiring with the switch . I am sure this is do-able
Another foot of friggen snow today

If you look at the lexus picture above and the Tacoma picture below , the two wheels are almost identical as far as design goes .
I am not the only TW member who is interested in the mod . http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/buy-sell-trade/247741-feeler-heated-steering-wheel-kits-2.html
