I go 5K between oil changes w/ synthetics. Probably get away with more but I grew up w/ 3K between changes and find it hard to get to 5K.

Mine is 03 so i generally go about 4000. But my dad and i have ran conventional since new so i am gradually working my way to 5000. When i first switched i went like 2500, then 3000, now to 4000. My oil starts getting dark around 4000 now. Im sure its cleaning the remnants of 8-9yrs of conventional Penzoil out. Lol but hey i just hit 176,000 on the odo. Runs better now that ever.

15K on a Mobil oil change is a stretch and maybe if the truck is driven soft with very little stop and goes it may be ok. It does make for good advertising though.

7K is a good compromise when synthetic is used. Look at it this way, many new car and truck manuals call for a 5K change with conventional oil now.

The 3K change was great for dad when oil technology was not near what it is today and I admit it is hard to break away from but with the oils available now, there is little or no need to change at 3k unless the vehicle is driven very severely.

I do 3500-5000 depending on where I drive....dusty vs. just around town.

BMW and other that use Mobile 1 set a 15k schedule for oil changes. I don't think I could do that, but I've done 7-8k in my 19 year old 4runner that I sold about 6 months ago to make room for my Taco. Ran like new and had multiple people wanting to buy it.

When my warranty runs out, I'll go 7-8k. Until then, 5k.

6000 on Mobil 1 is fine and is done all the time. I regularly run 7500-12000 on Mobil 1 EP 5W30 in mine.

As you can see it's really a matter of opinion. I have an '06 and change filter and oil every 5k using Mobil 1. Wife's 2013 Sienna recommends 10k with Toyota syn 0w-20 so that's what I'll do.

I have a 2013 Taco and just finished my one year dealer service and will now start doing my own oil changes. Is Mobil 1 best choice and I am thinking of doing 5k between changes. Thoughts? Thanks

4K here on Mobil 1 and Toyota filters. My oil looks pretty dark when I change it but I'm only on my 3rd synthetic oil change so I'm hoping that it gets clearer...

I use to change my oil twice a year regardless of how many miles I drove. Once in the fall and once in the spring.

However, I'm now just doing changes every 7,500miles or so....

With the advancements in Synthetic anything more is overkill and just wasting money IMO. Although, being in Canada and being an oil exporter, I love it when people change their oil more often :)

Haven't you noticed now that a few manufactures are putting in free oil changes for a certain period of time, they are extending the miles between changes? Kind of a kowinkidinky if you ask me!

You guys are wasting your money and time. If you are going with 5000 mile changes then stick with a good conventional oil. If you are going to use Mobil 1 or any other high quality synthetic you can go at least 10000 miles between changes with a high quality filter. Of course that is only if you went with synthetic early on.

If your skeptical then do what I did and get a laboratory analysis. I go 10000 at least with Mobil 1, on all my trucks.

I've used Mobil 1 for years and I only use Toyota OEM oil filters. 5000 miles and I change it. It "might" be okay for it to go longer but I personally like 5000 miles and have never had a issue once.
