I am at work and don't have a picture on hand.. But the situation is, I replaced my ignition coil (under the distributor cap) in extremely cold weather. While doing this, the wire running from the positive end to the block snapped. No, I didn't pull too hard, it was just freezing and the damn thing had enough apparently. It goes almost right into the block and is surrounded by a 1/2" of goo (not sure what it is, but solid filler). It broke RIGHT at the filler and I have no way or stripping back wiring and using a butt connector. Any thoughts on how to replace that? I stared for a while, but am beyond pissed at my truck and that was nearly the final straw. My only thought was trying to solder the tiny bit exposed and hope it makes enough contact.

I cant even google to find anything slightly related, most searches return coil pack issues and spark plugs. I have the 2.7L and am just lost at this point.

Sorry about the delay, I finally got pictures. This is what everything currently looks like. The distributor cap, Rotor and Ignition Coil are all removed. I'm wondering if I cant just run a wire and bypass the whole mess completely??

Awesome! Thank you so much! I might have to look again, but I don't see how the heck to remove the little guy. I'm headed to Toyota to order the part today. I cant wait to have her back on the road!

Although I can't see it in your pictures, based on the parts diagram my guess would be a screw or a bolt on the outside of the distributor housing.

It was a small screw on the side, it gets about 90% of the way out and wont quite go. Looks like I have to remove a few other things to get to it. I appreciate the help in targeting this! I'm impatiently waiting until the part arrives Wednesday, cant wait to have her back!!

No problem, honestly it's been awhile since I've had to diagnose a distributor problem. It's a whole new world these days. Kinda nice to go back to the days of simple.

The part finally arrived, the same day snow fell. Ugh. Took a whole 15 minutes and I got it installed and everything back together. The truck is running like a champ, the best it has since owning it. Also figured out my mystery stutter problem, DO NOT order a replacement Ignition Coil off of eBay because its cheap.. Lesson Learned. Thank you again for all the help. Glad to have it back!
