I got some ditch light brackets for my truck for Christmas and got some time to work on them today. When I got everything tore down I noticed that the brackets would not sit down flush on the hood hinges. The far ear looked way too large. Have you guys gotten this before?

Thought about buying these Today. Sub'd ( It looks like a little drilling/ Grinder work will solve your problem. I understand it should fit out of the box, but I think website said trim as needed..

Yeah it's pretty thick where it needs to be cut, around 1/4". I took a plasma to them and cut the big ears off but haven't had a chance to see if they fit now. I'm not happy about having to grind and cut through the powdercoat though..

Awesome, Hope it works out for you. I will probably order these in the next few days. I have all my bigger tools in WV, so I will be forced to use just an Angle Grinder and a Vice on them..

Nice, Did you take the whole fender off or just the Top bolts and slide it over?

Thanks for the post. We are just now learning that some years of the first gen tacomas have this issue we have made changes to the bracket to make them universal. Looks like Gear Head has already got it figured Out

Nah just take the fender loose (3 bolts at top of fender, 1 in door jamb) then pull it up and out and it will wedge on the body piece under it.

Nice! That was the whole purpose of this thread. I wasn't worried about being able to get them to work in my case but since this is supposed to be a "bolt on" part there are those that might not have the tools or know how to make them work.

Out of curiousity, does the new design look like mine? :D

How big of a light can you mount on these brackets?

We recommend the dully size but if you drill the mounting hole out you could probably run a set of 6'" day lighters without any interference. (** We haven't tested the brackets with bigger lights)

Maybe someone can post up some pics and experience if they have run bigger lights.

The fitment issue has been resolved for the first gen Tacomas so no more cutting or grinding to make them fit.

Thanks again for the post to clear this up.
