Ostrichsak, are those fj Team trail wheels? you said OEM wheels, I just wanted to clarify? I want those FJ wheels with 265s. I have billys on the front set at 2.5 and a short AAL in the back. That looks great on your truck. What sz and model tires are those and how much lift? looks awewome!

Yes, OEM FJ Team Trail wheels with 265/65r16 Duratracs. My 5100's are set to the 2nd setting (1.75"?) and then TSB rear. I would like to go a little taller some day maybe but I'm really happy with my setup. BTW, if you want those wheels read this thread before you buy anyway. When you see the price you'll probably pull the trigger immediately if not sooner like I did.

Here's mine 2.5 lift in the front , 2.25 in the rear billys all 4 corners with eibach springs set at sec setting in the fronts , rear has toytec 3 leaf progressive add a leaf with overload . Just got the bfg at ko2 265/70/16 on fj wheels. The tires was supposed to be 265/75/16 but the tire shop made a mistake and installed the stock size long story short I got a free alignment , free mount and balance and paid total of 487 bucks so I'm happy with that I'll just rock this till they wear out.

Currently I have what measures up to be a 2-1/4" front lift, via a spacer, and 1" rear via a block. At one point, I had a 3" lift (measured 2-5/8) via a Toytech coilover. They were used when I got them and they both blew out soon after. Personally, I like the RIDE and HANDLING better now than with the coilovers. Much smoother ride and off road performance is unchanged. Wheels are stock TRD Off Road. Tires are Goodyear Duratrac 265/75/r16, load range C. BTW, run them at 40psi minimum if you don't want the vibration (feels like they're out of balance) you'll hear people complaning about. They ride smooth as a babies butt with sufficient pressure. If I decide later to change tire sizes, it'll just be a DIFFERENT size Duratrac. I've owned 17 different 4wds over the past 42 years. With that, just about every description of A/T or M/T tire I can think of. The Duratracs are my new favorites.

But, as they say, all good things must come to an end. Stock TRD Billies are getting tired. (80,000+ miles) Very soon will be installing 5100's with 884's (no spacer, just trim packer) on the front and 5100's on the rear. I'll be having a set of rear leafs made at a suspension shop I do bsiness with. Essentially just building a stouter version of what Toyota started with. I'm keeping the 1" block just to irritate those who think "cheap lift kits" won't work. It's all about creating a balance....Shocks, coils/leafs, wheels and tires. There is no point in going overkill on $2500 shocks whan you run a lighter wheel/tire combo. That's sorta like pissing in the ocean. One of the biggest, if not THE biggest issue with matching shocks with coils is staying within the limitations of the shocks REBOUND dampening. Stiffer springs or more preload will help (somewhat) with compression and compression dampening, but that higher spring rate or additional preload HURTS the shocks ability to dampen rebound. That can give your truck's suspension a "jackhammer" effect....When you hit a bump and it compresses the spring/shock, there will be a faster, more violent rebound. Some shocks are adjustable, but in just about every case I know of, the adjustment effects compression primarily. So....It's best to avoid overly stiff springs and/or severe preload of a spring if/when you can. Long story short....No more spring than you need. And I prefer a longer coil for lift as opposed to preloading to get the same lift.

My truck get's it's fair share of off roading. It gets a lot of interstate highway driving too. Does well at both. Nothing exceptional, but more than satisfactory.

I've recently worked on a Landcruiser that had over $4000 in suspension mods and it rode aweful. I'd match my "$80 lift kit" against it for quality of ride any day.

The one I used was an $80 Ebay no name spacer.....

Anyone switch to a load range C tire from the factory load range D? I'm looking at getting a 265/75/16 DuraTrac in a C rating because they don't offer them in D's, most tires are E's with limited C's in this size.

What were the differences in handling, towing/ hauling, etc...???
