I like my 2007 Tacoma - base w/2.7 2WD - and use it as a working truck. Nonetheless; I would like to get the highest gas mileage I can manage.

    OK so -
I need a cap on it - but I bought an all aluminum cap.
I need to have a roof rack - but it is all aluminum too.
I need to have a spare tire - but got a mini-spare on an aluminum wheel.
I need a bedslide to stuff in the bed - but I built it out of aluminum.
    I use Mobil 1 0/20 oil
I installed larger diameter tires with a low rolling resistance rating.

Now I know you all seem to favor scoops and increased height and fat knobby tires under sut-away fenders and external lights and all sorts of things which do look very cool to me - but which would seem to create added air resistance and so seem likely to increase drag and reduce the mpg numbers.

    My question is:

Can you all suggest any things which would reduce wind resistance? The aluminum mini-spare is high and up out of the air stream under the truck so that helps. I have to have the external rearview mirrors. How can I make my trick 'slipperier' ? <g>

    Any ideas?

With cap and roof rack, slow down or move to higher altitude.

But I was hoping for something more practical than inflating the tires with hydrogen. <g>

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Cut the roof off and duct tape fender to hood gaps. [IMG]

Have you tried running maximum sidewall tire pressure.

I run 44-50 psi with even wear and excellent tire life.
