Looks like someone used tape to cover the light then used some chemical to remove it.

The fix would be to just replace that component. Very simple to remove, and a replacement should be sitting in a junk yard.

either replace the screen or see if wetsanding it with a super high grit sandpaper will polish it out

Looks like it was wiped with acetone, to me. I'd just replace it if you can find a replacement cheap enough. Trying to wet-sand and buff it would be more work than it's worth... Good luck!

It looks like that it was scuffed with something. I would do what Detective Dan said before I would replace it. Worst case is you make it worse then have to replace it anyways.

yea, no need to buy a new one if you dont need to. polishing it with sandpaper should fix it, but worst case scenario is that you are where you're at right now: in need of a new display lol.

There are various fixes on the web for scratches on sunglasses. You might google that and see what you come up with. As others have mentioned, polishing it out might be the ticket.
