I've seen some other inspiring FJ-40 builds on TW, so I thought I'd post our own build. We had been looking for a Landcruiser for a while, but they are pricey these days! Then, we can across this one in Aug 2012:

Mostly stock with small shackle lift, power steering conversion, 2nd fuel tank, dual batteries, new 31" BFG A/Ts (tire/wheels are now for sale).

The factory straight 6 ran decent, but we had the carb rebuilt and new exhaust installed.

Once we got it running great, we then went to work on the suspension so we could fit 35" tires. We installed a 4" lift with shackle reversal, and had our friends at YotaMasters finish up welding the brackets and installing a new steering box.

After the suspension was dialed in, it was ready for a new coat of paint.

    And refurbished door panels:

And this is how she sits today:

Amazing what a new coat of paint can do to improve the look, too.

    Thanks everyone for the compliments!

Still on the "to do" list:

Swap the Beard seats from the '85 4Runner we also recently acquired (looking for a factory 4Runner rear seat to put back in it)

Armor - front bumper & sliders

    Gears & lockers

    Hit the trails!!!
