Concrete core bit info needed

I need to punch a 3" hole in a concrete pad. No re-bar. I have been looking @ Bosch core bits. Anyone use this brand bit and had success? Or another brand you may have used?

Rent the machine for the day . They have a base fee for the drill and a wear cost for the diamond drill bit . I beleive they measure the wear surface beforte you rent it and measure again when you bring it back . If you only have 1 hole to drill and use the lubricator properly , shouldnt cost more than $30 bucks . If you had to purchase the bit , I beleive they run about $200 bucks

x2, rent one of the upright machines, it will make your life a lot easier. They have a connection for a hose so you can keep water running inside the bit while you run it (you can run the dry also but it chews up the bits a lot more, takes longer and creates a lot of dust, best to use the water if you can). If water is a concern, just have a shop vac handy.

We also have places like Pro Cut around us that will come in and knock that out. Including setup and tear down time, a hole that sized through a standard 4 or 6" slab with no rebar would only take about an hour tops.

The bits can be expensive, but if you shop around you can find them as cheap as $50. For one time use and no rebar, you'll be fine with a cheaper bit. You want the more expensive bits when you know you'll be cutting rebar. In general, I've had decent luck with Bosch products although I've never used their core bits for concrete.

 

I need to add an additional drain on a back patio.
