Best Tires?

I surf fish on the beaches and need a tire good on the sand...wet traction & quiet ride are also important......

suggestions???

c'mon...I know there's quite a few threads on tires I could look up...but I spend alot of time on soft sandy beaches...need some input...no sarcasm , please

 

Take your pick of any of the well reviewed name brand all terrains and you'll be fine... Nitto terra grappler, Hankook Dynapro ATM, BFG all terrain KO, etc. maybe go a little bit wider than stock to increase the "float" factor on sand. You don't need mudders because you DO NOT want to dig in sand.

 

By the way, I just found that circle jerk pic, and thought it would be perfect for any lift, oil, tire, tonneau cover, sport vs off road vs sr5 thread that comes up. I wasn't picking on you specifically, just itching to use that pic and your thread was the first to meet that criteria.

 

This goes under the YMMV category. Everyone has their favorites. I personally really like Michelin tires. LTX At2 is my choice for good mild off road but primarily on road use.

 

BFG all terrain work fine on the beach, and will still be very smooth on the road.

 

hankook dynapro -hows the road noise? heard its a pretty decent all around tire

 

i ran hankook dynapro at/m's for a while, they ride very nice on the road, quiet and what not. they handle very well in sand. and they have a pretty aggressive tread for an all terrain

 

Most tire threads are all personal choice and personal experience. I use GoodYear Duratracs but I see severe winter conditions in the NE, truck sees mud, rain, rock, and obviously needs to be daily driver friendly. I personally like the new styles of aggressive all terrians like the Duratracs, they work good all around, not perfect but good.

 

Goodyear wrangler mtr Kevlar on mine. They'll last a Long time!

 

Wrangler Duratrac's FTW, but go and buy what works for you, your game, your commute, your off-road tendencies, your local supply, your budget, and finally your BA factor!

I did a small write up with some pics of the new Wrangler Adventure tires that have replaced the old Silent Armor series in the Goodyear stable.

*Very* quiet on the highway, run decently in snow, but I haven't tested them in sand yet. The wet weather performance I have found to be superb--had two massive rainstorms driving to and in the South on vacation in Dec.

BFG Rugged Terrains were on my 1st gen. Those were good tires for snow, a little loud on the highway, and about average in wet weather.

Any all terrain works great on sand. Mud tires tend to dig pretty fast. Even with 4x you will dig yourself in deep
