    Lots of expensive shit
I'm a diehard miller fan. My original.miller elite lasted 8 yrs, the new digital elite I have is 10x nicer. Very fast, lots of sensors, grinding mode, etc

I recently bought this one. I'm liking it a lot so far. I'm just hobby welding and doing fab on my truck, not in a shop all day, so I couldn't justify the prices of the other ones. Its got a huge viewing area, bunch of different adjustments (in dial form), can charge via solar, has grind mode, and is very light weight. Not for overhead welding (its plastic, not metal), but it sounds like it could fit the bill for you rather well.

If you have the dough, follow matt's advice, otherwise I'm liking this thing a lot.

Indeed. Old coworker of mine started his weld shop several years ago, his last name was Miller so pretty much everything in the shop is Miller. We bought him out a few years back.

Thanks fellas. Price isn't an issue. I weld 10-12 hours/day, 5-6 days/ week. Need something light and GREAT. Kinda hesitant to use another speedglass, but their 13 oz hood sounds appealing. May just look for a lense to fit my pipeliner, and trim the shit out of it to reduce weight

I've got a miller digital elite and a Optrel e680. I'll take the Optrel any day over the miller. It's lighter, has a curved lense(only overhead rated auto dark I know of), has infinitely adjustable on shade from 5-13. It also shades bluer rather than green like many hoods (miller included) so I feel like you can see more definition when welding. geryby7a_f816928941e3cf0add57239ece030c19549d11e1.jpg

No complaints from miller elite. Strides better then HF auto darkening for shit around house comparedto work.

Got the pipeliner widdled down to .95 pounds. Now to look for a good auto 2x4 1/4 lense

The second pic appears to have some undercut. Try a smaller wire, and feed that shit like crazy. Freehanding also helps to avoid undercut, and is much faster. I only walk the cup if I'm in a real shitty spot, or on large diameter pipe

Yeah there is a little undercut. That was the first bead I ran with machine. The arc is a definitely different than a syncrowave. Had to get used to it. That was free handing also

If thats freehand I'd tighten up my weave considerably and turn it down a few amps. Unless you're stretching your filler too thin in which case I'd go up in wire size. Other than that you're really consistent. I'm in school learning to weld too.

For those who travel with gas cylinders. How do you secure them? I have a small (50lb?) that I would rather not have inside the cab. Thought about fabricating a cage for it to mount to the bed rails. Thoughts?

I think it's relevant to post this in here. I have a new/unused Hobart Spoolrunner 100. I bought it a year ago when I thought I'd be making a fuel cell but I ended up buying one instead. I don't foresee myself needing this. I opened the box and closed it. Everything is there. How's $175 shipped? :notsure:
