Okay- I'm creating this thread to track changes, ask questions and store ideas. So many of the builds out there gave me ideas-- bullaculla, reeeno403, steeltaco, oz-t, prinsu, the list goes on and on... Thanks for all the great ideas and for answering my questions.

I named the truck "Mouse" because the silver sky color is kind of mouse grey, and because let's face it, tacomas are little guys in the world of trucks-kind of like Mighty Mouse.

I've done all the work myself, and with the help of a friend or two. My philosophy is to have to just a little more truck than I need for the driving I do, so 32" tires, 2.5" lift, SR5 package, etc.

This build will be pretty modest. It's a DD. I bought the truck new on 01/04/2014.
Here's a couple of pics of where I sit now, 02/20/14.

    What I've done so far:

    Suspension:
    Toytec Ultimate Lift with:
Radflo 2.5" diameter extended travel coilovers
    Light Racing UCA's
    OME Dakar leaf packs
    Bilstein rear shocks
    Diff. Drop kit
    Swaybar relocate

    Tires:
Kelly Safari TSR 265/75R16 Load Range C

    Bumper:
CBI Moab 2.0 with stock fog lights

    Topper:
Leer XR100 with Thule Aero Rack & Pet Screens (Still waiting on this one--the dealership ordered "Silver Streak Mica" color code. When they put the topper on my Silver Sky Metallic truck you could really see the difference! It's being repainted even as we speak.)

    Childseat:
    Safety First Air65 :p

What I will do sooner or later:
    Warn M-8000s
    Seat Covers
    Sliders (Bolt On??)

    Maybe:
    Rear Plate Bumper
Wheels-- Konig Countersteer in matte black, or something along those lines,
    or powdercoat stock wheels
2nd childseat (this would be an accident!)

    Wish(es) that I won't do, ever.
Supercharger (we've got some grades out here in western CO)

And a shout-out to the original Mighty Mouse, my old 2001 single cab (sold), seen here at 11,000 feet in the Flat Tops at the beginning of elk season, having broken 8 miles of trail with chains on all 4:

Good looking rig, how do you like the Kelley tires in snow? i have a great set of MT's but they don't like 2'' of snow on the roads here in the sierra's, but do great in deep snow. So I'll be looking to upgrade when they're worn out.

    Thanks!

I really like the Safari TSR's. I've only run them in 6" of snow offroad so far, and they bite well and clean themselves out pretty well too.
On snowy and icy roads they have excellent traction.

As a side note-I went in to the tire shop set on the Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs, but they sold me on the TSR's after a few comparisons. I still think the duratracs are a slightly better tire, but much more expensive where I live.

oh--and I had 31x10.5r15 Teadwright Guard Dogs on the '01 -AWESOME tire for $105 a piece.

    1sttaco11--Thanks for your service.

Thanks for the complements--I wish I could afford all the mods I'd like to do, but I feel pretty fortunate even to have the ones I do. Really the only absolute "must have" upgrade left at this point is a winch.

Yeah that little truck was far from beautiful, but just so reliable!

So here's a close-up of the Kelly Safari TSR in 265/75 R16, compared to stock 245/75R16 Dunlops-- not much bigger, really.

And here, a stock silver streak mica double cab parked next to me, so I couldn't resist a shot. If you look at the hoods of the trucks you can see the color difference. The rest of my truck is covered in whitish road grime.

Here's a recording of an engine noise I get when my truck is warming up. My dealership pulled the belt this morning and told me it's an internal engine noise. What a bummer.

I've got 2,400 miles on the odometer. If anyone has a similar sound or ideas about what it might be, post up. There's also a thread on a 2013 with a similar sound (hotrod53's) in the 2nd gen forum.
