I've decided one of these 2 are the best for my needs (not saying they are the best tire, or will work for everyone). Looking at 265/70R17s. What's the majority consensus between these 2 tires.

Feel free to provide a reason.

Just got the Hankook's today. I was looking at those same too tires and priced around and found the Hankook's at a great price. On line reviews for snow traction was the deciding factor for me.

Here in Canada, that's BIG. I haven't come across anything/anyone saying they are much better in the white stuff so thanks. A common complaint seems to be the road noise as they wear though. Hopefully some of these are exaggerated.

I owned the Hankook ATMs and only got about 28k miles out of them and I rotated them every 5k. They were C rated so maybe thats where the issue was :notsure:

I wouldn't buy them again

I'm well over 40k miles on mine and love them, still have tons of tread left. I was 8-9/32 on my last rotation. I've actually had pretty good luck with them in the snow, I posted a few videos pulling a Chevy 3500 that was stuck. They're great on ice but in really slushy stuff they perform about where I would expect any newer gen AT to perform. Less than 6-8" no prob, any deeper than that and a MT is way better.

This video is boring but it's a long uphill section. There was 6-10" of snow, it is mostly frozen underneath tho so not real slushy. You can see how deep it is when I drop into the ruts. No traction issues at all. The place I'm pulling out of was deep and untouched, I had a little trouble turning around but not much. Again, well over 40k miles on these.

This video is pulling out the Chevy, it took 3-4 tries but the tires did great considering deep, slushy mess.

I've not run AT3's but from what I've read the Hankook should be more competent off-road whereas the AT3 should be slightly better on road. Both should last about the same.

You know I didn't really look too closely at how the weight compares but from an unverified source, the Coopers are almost 11 lbs lighter in a 265/70R17? +1 for the Coops!

Awesome video! Like I said, here in Canada, snow performance is big but we mostly get dry powder or frozen packed stuff. Cute kid "Daddy did it!" lol.

I've heard these were made exclusively for Discount Tire, look pretty good. Just doesn't seem to be as many objective reviews and comparisons.

A little too much OFF road for my daily driver I think, but a bad@$$ looking tire!

    Soooo... you have the Hankooks?

I don't know why I thought you guys make my decision EASIER?! From the split, I get the impression I can't really go wrong with either though, so that's reassuring. Keep em coming!

I have RF10s in P265/75-16. The tire in P-metric is light at 40 lb. On-pavement performance is very good. Grips well and quiet at highway speeds.

Can't comment on snow performance since I have a set of dedicated winter tires (shitty but cheap Firestone Winterforce UV) on steelies.

They look pretty similar. The ATPs have a 3 ply sidewall, slightly deeper treads, and slightly wider voids between the tread blocks.

I have 4k on my ATM's Live in Idaho and we get a LOT of snow.
I travel all over the for work in the rocky mountain area...
These tires are just about the best AT tires I have ever used in the snow.
They still have about 50 percent tread of them perhaps 60 percent.
They are on their second winter, they dont even plow the side streeets here unless we get more then six inches. I rarely use 4x4 around town so that should tell you something.
the 10 plys are get they wear super well. I get about 22 on the highway with them on my 4 banger with 300 lbs of sand in the back and a mid rise topper that has racks on it at 70 MPH they have gotten a bit louder but not much.
will most likely run a set of snow next year but I drive 25k a year so by the time next winter rolls round they will most likely have almost 60 K on them. if they wear like they have been I expect to get 65-75 k out of them before I retire them to spare tire status.
thats roatating them ever 5 k
not bad for a 4x4 AT tire will most likely get them again
can not say enough good stuff bout them been up countless passes in deep crappy snow with thousands of miles of 4x4 snow driving a winter...

How is the Hankook getting more nods than the Cooper here? Hands down, the AT3 is longer lasting, quieter, and better performing offroad.

Have to go with the Hankooks, have them on my Wife's DD Pathfinder, this is the 4th winter on this set, and they still have superb traction in the snow.
