Old video, CAI sounds cool, don't care about a couple hp gain or loss.

Having not watched the video I can tell you that if you put a cold air intake on, then add a cat back exhaust, you will see no gains... until you take it in and have it tuned.

Air=HP. The more freely it flows, the more hp you can make, but it has to be tuned... the fuel/air ratio adjusted to optimum for that setup. Then it DOES make a difference.

FYI.... after a 600mi trip of doing some testing with the stock intake etc.... the stock intake produces temps right at ambient temp... no more than 2*F above ambient when moving.... purchasing a CAI for our taco's is about the dumbest idea ever as the stock one already does the job perfectly.

I haven't seen power gains but my my snorkel did net me 1 to 2 mpg more than stock. It's sort of a cold air intake heh heh

Not a fan of the video because the small engines result in smaller gains with bolt on mods like CAI and exhaust. Do this same test with a v8 and you will see at least a small gain in HP. Now I understand it's not actually taking in cold air, so I don't really understand why they call it that but I've always been a fan of the sound. The point of the CAI is to take in more air faster resulting in more horsepower, but I've never personally seen a dyno run where it produced more power. Nonetheless, it sounds great and looks good under the hood. Never personally had any problems with them either.

True, but I personally feel that it is money well spent because I enjoy the noise and see a 2-3 mpg increase also so that makes it seem a little more practical. They are probably more hyped up than they should be, but my thoughts after riding in a car with one was "I want one!" But that's just me...

On a diesel a cold air intake will net you some gains and tuned it will really net you gains.

How's that?, your throttle is a greater restriction at anything less than full throttle. Snorkel can't change that.

Small kine ram air? So I had the same 30 mile one way commute 5 days a week and I was always tracking my fuel economy with my ultra gauge. After the snorkel install (no other mods at the same time) I collected data for a few weeks and it showed a 1 to 2 mpg gain. There are tons of factors the influence fuel economy but my commute was long, consistent, and I had plenty of data before and after the snorkel.
