Kelley TSR safari tire review

So OP you still liking the Safaris? Have you worn them out in the 4 years since the tread started??

How about those of you who have run both Safari TSR's and Duratracs--any thoughts? There was a Safari vs. Duratrac thread but it was shortlived.

I had the duratraks on my 91 Hilux surf, loved em, had 16's, paid $750 installed. good tire in the mud, excellent in the winter. only had them for a year before I sold the Hilux and got my Taco! Don't know how they lasted?

 

I'm running the Toyo M55's at the moment, but will have to outfit the truck come spring. Was looking at the Kelly's cause I need something good, reliable and priced well, as I also have to outfit the wife's Rav4 this spring, so flow will be tight for 2 sets of rubber!

 

I have TSR 265/75 16 and really like them. I have had Duratracks as well. Both are good tires. The TSR's have 13K on them and still look new. Work great in snow and air down well for sand or off road.

 

Cool thanks-- around here I can get the TSR's for about $40 bucks a tire cheaper.

 

Here's a decent picture of the TSR's I had mounted on Tuesday. 265/75R16 with a 2.5" (or so) lift.

I absolutely love these tires so far. They ride very smoothly, make just a low hum, and have excellent snow/ice traction.

They're like a cheaper duratrac, except safaris don't suck and blow sidewalks every 5 minutes

 

This was by far the hardest decision I have ever made. It was between the Kelly TSR's, Goodyear duratracs, Goodyear Authorities, or Cooper ST's (in 265/75R16). Cant wait to get them put on.

So far I have approximately 10,000 miles on these tires and they still look damn near new with minimum wear. If it keeps up like this I'm sure I will get 45-50 thousand miles out of them easy. As for noise, they are really about the same as my old stock Rugged Trails I had. Traction is better than I expected from any All-Terrain. I pull an 18ft aluminum boat up steep boat launches (both concrete and dirt) and have only stun once and that was due to trying to go too fast cause other were waiting on me. I did see about a 1-2 mile drop in MPG but that can be expected with a heavier tire. All in all I am very pleased and would recommend these to anyone wanting an aggressive tire without the weight of an MT.

 

Those look like nice tires, keep us posted on how they perform.

 

Definitely want to see how they hold up. I originally tried to order the Safari TSR but there was a nationwide backorder. I went with the Wrangler Authority and have been extremely pleased. They are a nearly identical tire, should perform just as well!

 

Will do! A few people have reviewed them on TW and I completely trust them (obviously being I purchased them) but I will be doing my own review just for the hell of it.

Glad you like the Authorities, good to know they are a good tire. I nearly ended up with them. Deciding on tires is a lot like work, it's down right hard.

 

I had some Kelly Safari tires on my first car. I don't remember specifically which ones they were, but they did alright in the mud. The Kelly brand has been around for a while.

anyone try out the Kelly safari TSR 265/70/r17? Love the look for being an all terrain tire, I just want to know how they loud they are and how they wear before I buy! Thanks
