a few goodies here and there!
So, I knew this day would come. I am aware it is not a completely permanent solution to getting rid of my chrome.

So I am thinking of actually painting now instead.

I know the best way is to sand down the chrome pieces, would I need to use a belt sander for the bumper?

For the bumper you could just always go trade someone for a base model black bumper.

Check to see if you have any local powder coaters or hydrodippers.

Somebody can media blast the bumper, then powder coat or hydrodip it for not that much. Powdercoating will probably be the most durable option

    Buy this.

Then tape off the black plastic.
    Put rubber gloves on.
Spray on the part you want the dip removed.
    Wait about 5-10 minutes.
    Power wash off.

Then sand the chrome, prime and paint.

    .. your welcome.

WD-40 will remove the plasti-dip with no harm to your underlying finish. Spray on liberally, wait about 5 minutes and wipe the melted dip off with a rag. Finish up with a power washer and a degreaser like SimpleGreen to get the residue off.

A belt sander would almost definitely be too aggressive.

    Belt sander is overkill.

Warm up the shoulders and elbows and go to town on it with 320 grit or so. Just enough to dull it up.

Then wipe clean with a Duplicolor prep wipe. Let dry, prime and paint.

If thats the shit im thinking of that is nassssstyyyyyyy shit. We used to have to use aircraft paint remover in the paint booth every few months and it would eat your boot laces off after one or two times in there.

Just peel the plasti dip off. That's the entire point of using plati dip.
