Congrats to yall looking at houses! I'm set to close on my first place April 4th and can't wait. Back on topic... What is a fair price for a used R1? I just found one on craigslist for $200

Congrats man, I close on my first place April 3rd, haha. Depending on the condition and what's with it, $200 ain't bad.

I want to pick it up but the bank said no unusual purchases until I close or I could risk losing my loan. That means no guns, truck parts, or rc's :( Hopefully it's still there in a month!

Both hobby shops i go to have those on the shelves. i always think i want to buy it, and then i look at the shitty clearance under the transfer case :(

this one is ugly as hell, but you can see the silver skid for the transfer case.

i forget the brand, but i have a little tub of RC speciffic grease. it's real thick and tacky. even after applying it to the high speed gears in the transmission of the Jato, it's still stuck on the gears, with very little flung out on the inside of the case. so while more is usually better with a crawler, you really don't need much (if you use the right stuff)

i have one of the exceed 4wd buggies.

assuming it's the same quality, if you upgrade it to a brushless setup (which you'll want to do), buy spare dog bones, and al of the front end components. you'll also find that the wheels and tires are not so great (though that's the case with a lot of RTRs).

you'll also want a better charger if you don't already have one, since the one for the stock NiMH battery is one of those stupid 4+ hour chargers.

bottom line is that it's going to cost a lot more than $100 if you want anything that goes more than 15 mph for longer than 10 minutes.

if you want something in the same price rage, but that works a fair bit better, check out the tacon stuff from nitrorcx. same people that sell those exceeds. some of the most afordable brushless stuff you'll come across, and build qquality is not bad (though it's nto top notch either)

Thank you very much I will look them up. I don't mind spending money if I have to for quality! Have a Axial Honcho that I love, just want something a little faster for dirt when camping!

if you like that style, you're not going to beat this from a quality vs. price standpoint. i've driven a couple of these. very fast, and extremely fun to drive. built well too. brushless and LiPo battery out of the box

yea not ready for the track yet, don't think my wallet would like me anymore, hates what I spend on the taco already lol This one looks to suit my needs just fine, a lot faster than the honcho so ill have fun crawling and going fast depending on where I go camping. God I love tacomaworld!

I justify my RC habit by thinking that i can blow up an RC, hitting a wall at 40 mph, and it still costs less than one of my tires :p

makes me feel better about the money spent on them lol

lol I got my Honcho so I wouldn't end up bashing my truck on rocks lol It's a lot cheaper, and it keeps me in shape as I walk around the block and night with it and have fun with the cats who come out to chase it!
