So Dealer offered my $28,500 for my truck. It's 2012 DCLB Sport 4WD upgrade, w/upgrade extra. Entune/Jbl/Nav. A.R.E. Z-series shell. It only has 4100 miles on it, only use it for trips to cabin. Mobil 1 at 2750. No nicks/chips/scratches, never seen salt, stored last winter, and this winter. Sorry crappy pictures as it's in storage.

Window sticker was $36,100, paid $33,000 June of 2012

For some reason they just don't bring that much for them here. Average price what I see online around here in upper Midwest. 27K to 29K depending on options.

I doubt you'd sell it for more then that private. People are picking up brand new ones for only $2-3k more. Look at the classifieds here. Full of the newer trucks with people asking only a couple thousand less then new. Why would someone pay $29k for a two year old truck when they can get a new one for only $2-3k more? That's how toyota sells so many new trucks. Sticker the truck at $36k, sell for $31k. Then set the blue book value high, to make it almost impossible for the guy looking for a 1-2 year used truck to not just pay the extra little bit for new.

I paid $27k a year ago for the same truck without 4x4 and a shell. Upgraded JBL and everything. I think they are giving you a fair price. You'll get a little more selling it private, but who knows how long that will take.

4k miles is nothing, and if it saves $2k it's worth it.

4k miles/2 years off warranty. Even with low miles it has 2 years of being exposed to the elements. Plus you don't know how he drove it, (not saying he did), but he could of towed a 30ft boat all of those miles, raced from red light to red-light, multiple deep water crossings off road, etc...

$2k to knock out any unknown and have a longer warranty isn't much when you're already paying $28-30k.

Stored winters, always parked in garage, never towed anything. 7 trips to cabin around trip that's all. Never off road. Driven normal average mpg 20/21 all 2 lane Hwy, so that tells you how it's been driven ( like a grandpa)100K warranty.

Plus have a 01 Jeep w/4" lift at cabin, I drive when I'm there.

You would be able to tell if he did, which he probably didn't since the truck still has a rake and looks immaculate.
Irrelevant info, the truck looks good. I wouldn't sell my tacoma personally but if you don't need it and you are happy with the offer he gives, I say go for it. If you can wait a month, try to put it for sale online and see if you get any takers since most dealer's offers are good for 30 days.

Large - Don't need to sell it, just thought I would throw it out there. Dealer knows it just sits most of the time. So they threw me a offer. It's a Lexus dealer, where I bought my DD IS350 AWD.

I just list that latest stuff just show not everyone beats the truck like Speedojosh implied.

I may sell, may not. Who knows... Thought I would see if someone here is interested.

Arb front bumper, warn winch, All Pro rear bumper, OME up front, OME and All Pro Standard in Back, ARB locker, 34 x 10.5 KO2's, 17" Level 8 Trackers, and fancy single piece driveshaft.
Assuming: you're trading it on another vehicle; sales tax there is 7%; and trading at the dealer is the only way to avoid paying full sales tax on whatever new vehicle you buy, $28.5 from the dealer is equivalent to $30,495 from a private party. So you save almost $2k in sales tax on the new vehicle by trading. Pretty good offer from the dealer in that light. (And it still is aggravating that the only way to get the sales tax break in most states is to trade through a dealer.)

Nope, not trading on anything. Just selling. But yes you are spot on in the saving sales tax with trading. Sales tax for me with WI registration is only 5.5% which is nice.

It's really up to you but I am with SpeedoJosh on this one. These trucks hold their value very well so it's really hard to sell a used one for that much. Besides that most buyers aren't going to have that in cash anyways so they will need to get a loan to pay for it. I get what your saying about it not being beat but unless your dealing with a friend or aquaintence it's unlikely that they will believe everything you are saying anyways. I am a penny pincher but if it came down to a 2012 for 28k vs 2014 for 30k, I would go with the 2014 for sure.

I say if you don't want/need the truck sell it back to the dealer and take the loss. It won't be worth your time to try and get more private sale.

    just my $0.02.

I mean, I guess if you were wanting to get rid of it, that's a pretty good out. Don't know why you'd wanna get rid of it though....

Nice truck. Keep it! Unless you're tired of owning the best pickup truck on the market...

Scroll over to the "What'd you pay" thread. People are getting them for right around 30. Of course OTD prices are higher then $30k b/c of taxes and registration. You'd have to pay that anyway buying his (at least in Florida). So his $28k truck just b/c a $30k truck b/c of taxes and registration to new buyer. Multiple people getting these trucks for 32-33k OTD.
