lol I was totally waiting for this to happen (start at 2:08 if it doesn't do it by itself)

Otherwise, that's a dang nice job for stock - but bring friends next time, there were some good opportunities to get stuck in bad situations!

I rock crawled in reverse and my truck is no where near stock. I did it without a spotter and dented the cross member on my frame. I have full skid plates too. Rock crawling in reverse is hard.

Congrats on the truck man. I recently got myself a Tacoma in mid December. Been loving it! Been on a few trails out here in Vegas, and trying to get out to more. I saw the Toyota Land Cruisers on the net, but haven't looked into it further. What trail they going in mid March? I'd be interested in going. I'm fairly new to off roading. Here's a pic of my Tacoma in Boat House Cove up by Lake Mead. I'm definitely hitting some sort of trail tomorrow

Honestly my white knuckles were matching my super white paint job. I'm pretty happy with myself making it out of there in one piece.

EddyRRT- I like those SOS Sliders. I've done some welding in my days but vertical and upside down welding isn't easy. I don't know how I'd get those things on. I don't know any welders out here

DaVikes- Yeah pretty funny. The back up camera and my wifes hollering helped me avoid anything nasty. Which was everywhere!

Chickenmunga- You like that sound track? My wife thought it was better than wind noise and my swearing all the time!

I'm thinking I'll try the Nitto Grapplers that fit my rims for a tire upgrade. I'm going to need to look in to lift kits.

Probably pretty lucky it was dry. I didn't have problems with my dunflops on pretty basic roads. They even did well through a Wyoming winter.

Anything offroad in snow or mud and I probably would have gotten stuck :p.

Now beef up the truck a bit more and come over to Wyoming this summer :).

I seriously will BabyTaco. I'm originally from Chicago and fell in love with the west 20+ years ago. Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, Idaho and now Nevada are all places on my all time favorites list. I spent new years in a cabin south of Livingston about a decade ago and need to get back into the northern Rockies! If/when I get my truck together I'll be hitting you up for more info.

haha because of you i went back and found a video and some pictures of my first time offroading. stock with pirelli all terrains out on black mountain kentucky in the dead of winter with a stock longbed double cab frontier and a 96 1500 chevy. busted my blinkers and lower valence on some ice which made my first mod the blinker mod. ran around like that for about a year then got more into it and now I have a money pit.

Glad to make you nostalgic! You probably weren't out there with your wife. I was more conservative with her watching me. It would have been a different ride home if things went badly...

I have had great luck with these tires! I have them on my daily driver. They are a great compromise for highway driving and off road. Granted I am stock so I dont do anything too crazy. They have been perfect for getting me in and out of the woods on various hunting, fishing and camping trips in various conditions. On top of that, they wont kill your gas milage They do well on snow and ice too. They were a huge improvment from the stock Dunlops and pretty reasonably priced IMHO...

Yeah, of the 5 or so different tires I was looking at these seemed to fit my purposes the best. I bought 5 for the price of 3 1/2. Yup my spare needed to fit in with the crowd!

I started up that trail a couple years ago from the west side (Lovell Canyon Rd) in my stock Taco and ended up doing the same as you. Sliders and a bit of a lift are a must for that trail. Wheeler Pass is a good trail on the backside of Mt. Charleston that's not too bad for a stocker with careful driving.

Sounds like my worries to the letter. Those Dunlop goodyear made pos we are both running are fit for the land fill and nothing else. Already had one go bad in less than 15k miles. 3inch lift, 285 bfg km2's ironbull bumper up front, some armor and rock sliders, and a winch are on the "I wish I won the lottery" list. Trying to figure out where to stuff onboard air under the hood too. Never wheel alone, I learned my lesson long ago.

Tires make a difference, look into some sliders and then a lift and you have the basics. Then you can startbbuilding from there like bumpers, winch, skids, supercharger etc. Skill just comes with practice.

Hit another trail today. Met up with another member slantxl. He's a good guy with a nice truck. The new tires were awesome. I'll post a new thread with picks of the run.
