    Hey everyone,

I am just looking for some ideas on what could be causing a few issues. I am thinking they may be related. The truck is a 2006 double cab 4x4, 116K miles on it. Front break pads, rotors and bearings are 1yr old.

    1. I can hear ticking when breaking. the more I slow down the slower the interval between ticks, up until I stop. Coming from front end.

    2. Oil on top of what I believe is the right control arm. Two picture below. (**ignore the oil drops on the ground, unrelated**)

    3. rubbing when turning. I have never had rubbing issues. Now it sounds like my tires rub on something when at half turing radius or more. left and right turns.

I know it is difficult to diagnose things from this kind of description, I figure some people out their might have some suggestions.

    Thanks

If it does, could that be causing all of these noises?

+1 All of your symptoms could be that axles worn and boot is torn.

Hmmm, I guess I might have to see if anyone in the Northern Virginia area might want to assist with the labor on this. I should probably start creating a parts list and things to do while its torn apart list as well.

It really seems all these noises began within about one week of each other.

It kind of looks like the "oil" is power steering fluid leaking from the rack.

I thought that as well. I checked the power steering reservoir since that is the only source of oil above that area...did not see any signs of leaks.

I like the brain storming though

Did a shop do the brakes etc. for you?

If the ticking is loud enough at a slow enough speed, you may be able to have someone drive the truck and you walk next to it to at least see which side it is coming from.

A shop did the bearings. I did the break pads and rotors.

Have a buddy help you out listening for the noises in a parking lot or something while you replicate the symptoms. Check all of the little hardware tabs to see if one is catching somewhere in the rotors or something. The rack bellows boot looks wet to me also. I would cut clamp off and see if there is fluid in it, there shouldn't be. You can always use a zip tie to fasten it back up, not to tight though. CV will click on turns when they wear out too. Pretty quick to put axles in there.

Sounds like all the noises are coming from the right front end. I take it I can't really know what needs to be fixed until someone gets in there right?
