I think I should have gotten the P285/70R17 117S. The LTs are overkill for what I do and they a pretty bouncy and stiff (80psi vs 35psi)

What do y'all think? Anyone tried both on their rigs and was there a big difference?

are you running 80 psi? theres no reason to run that much air. 35-40 is plenty

Why would you run 80 psi?? Just run 35psi and you should be good.

Don't run them at 80 PSI. That is the max for that tire, not the pressure you are supposed to run them.

E's are probably overkill. The Ps or c-rated would ride better, but only a little.

You could run them at 80 psi but then again you could probably fill them with concrete and the ride would be about the same

I run my E rated tires at 40 psi

I have them on my 03 dub cab, if the truck sits for awhile there will be flat spots in them until the tires warm up.
Mine are actually RVT, meaning they're RV tires, but they should last a loooong time.
    You'll be fine with them

Note the weight difference, too. The JDM wheel snobs would gladly spend $4000 on forged rims to save that much weight per corner.

this is what i run in my E rated terra grapplers. 80 is way to much for our trucks.

I would say yes, you bought the wrong tire if you have no need for a load E tire. You can help the situation by dropping the pressure to around 40 psi as mentioned above but they're still going to be a stiff tire.

I guess I'll be the first to say it, what's wrong with p-rated tires? You'll save about 10 lbs per tire, and the payload doesn't change. Only real reason I can see for the lt E rated are the sidewall strength if you off-road a lot.

I went from e to c rated tires and noticed a difference in ride quality, and my MPG's went up... If you don't need "E", you probably have the wrong tire.

This guy knows whats up. E range tires only make sense for people that wheel their trucks hard or otherwise abuse them.

The E rated tires are 10 ply tires. They are designed for increased side wall strength an for hauling heavier loads. The max recommend pressure is 80 psi. I would not run them any under about 55-60 psi. Some wear patterns may develop that cause excessive road noise.

I run BFG AT E-rated's at ~34-36psi and they ride fine.

One thing to note: the E-range tire has 3/32" more tread depth, so it will have about 24% longer life, if everything else is assumed equal.

Es are overkill on a Tacoma. They are made for heavier trucks. I run my BFG Ds at 46. I ran my Duratrac Cs at 42 on Prerunner.

Our trucks are really too light to be running E load tires. You will really hate using it as a DD long term. The P rated tires will make a world of difference. I run the Terra Grapplers 285 75 16 in a C load at 32psi and it rides quite smooth due to C load being 6ply. 10ply E load is overkill.
