I'm on day 4...not as difficult as I imagined it being.

I'd rather something that develops peak torque at 2000 rpm then something that develops peak torque in the higher rpm range, not to mention the max tow capacity is higher with the ecoboost then the 5.0. I know someone who has an ecoboost. Never had a problem with it

not to worried about towing. don't think I'll have any issues pulling a boat on flat ground for a round trip of 40 miles twice a week. gonna be an every day driver. If I was needing to tow that kind of weight more often and for longer distances I would just get a diesel.

The problems I'm talking about are towing. Yes they say max towing is higher, but real life experience. Not so much. They also say mileage is higher, and that isn't true either. 5.0L have better mileage towing also. Once up to speed 3.5L pulls trailers fine, but getting there is the problem compared to 5.0L

The milage quote as far as I'm concerned is unloaded. I've seen ecoboosts get awesome mpg unloaded. But you hook any extra weight to anything and it goes to crap. The ecoboost my g-pa owns gets 16-17mpg with his little bass boat behind it. Probably 3500lbs. I think it's pretty good for a 4x4 half ton, considering my prerunner gets about 14 with the same boat

I've used my dads 2013 Eco boost f150 to tow a lot of things and it does great. You will be happy with it.

Good deal man. How long you been dipping? I kinda tapered off slowly this time going from a can every couple days to about two dips a day to 1 dip every a day to none for 5 days.

The bitch is I really do enjoy it so I don't want to quit...just think I need to. My cravings are worse when I first wake up, after eating & after sex.

A white FX4 is the only F150 I would ever want (except a Raptor of course). They look sick!

Ya I enjoy it, but knew I should quit...on and off for the last 2 years..sometimes I would quit for weeks, into months, then go back to it.

I would crave it post meals, and usually whenever I'm driving somewhere with a small distance.

The 04' to 08' 5.0 could develop a cam problem that from what I was told was anywhere from 2k-5k depending on who you asked. I heard they fixed it in the 05' and newer though.

I test drove an 03' F150 Screw, I really liked the cab, but the motor scared me off. So I went and got a Taco because I didnt want to have to guess if it was going to start everyday before work.

Enjoy the Found Off Road Dead! I wouldn't get a ford for a long time until they work out the issues.

You're thinking of the 5.4. IIRC, the 5.0 didn't start in the f-series until 2011.

Ford customer service is why I am here after owning Fords for 30+ years. CS was the last straw after the problems I had with the worst engine ever designed (plug spitting 5.4). CS lied to me and was it. Next purchase was a Toyota.

quite a milestone there for a Fix Or Repair Daily. Mine had drank it first 5 or 6 quarts by the time it got there. Also ate half the tread off the tires and the front pads were almost toast.

Best of luck with your new truck! "Was awful on the fuel front" You dont sound like a guy that's afraid to spend money on fuel. Those boats burn mega gallons per hour.

Heh. no issues here, the rotors are almost 1" thick and still look new, the rear discs still look brand new as well and I've towed quite a bit with it.

Now that is the first time I have ever heard or read that. Unless you are talking about longevity the 5.0 won't pull circles around the 3.5. The ecoboost peaks its torque at 2500 RPM, the 5.0 has to be revved to get its, and that is what gets a load moving. Not to mention it has pretty much the same hp, it is a no brainer the 3.5 will out tow all day (questionable) the 5.0.

Now if it lasts that long is another story. I have heard plenty of horror stories on cooling, turbo issues and what not on those motors. That and when the turbos are spooled more gas is being fed so it will eat more fuel than the 5.0 towing.

Personally I would do a 5.0 long term but once or twice a week for MI summers, shouldn't be much concern and better mpg's during the day (that is hit or miss if you stay out of boost)...
