trd with leather seats?

A friend of mine is looking for a tacoma, and came across an '05 that has the TRD decal on the side and has leather seats. He said it says SR5 on the tailgate. I have limited pictures of this thing, so I told him what to look for to confirm whether it's actually a TRD, but I thought leather only came on the limited, which didn't have a TRD option. Am I wrong?

Also, running the VIN number will usually give you all the clarification you need on factory specs and options. Link through a used car dealership and swap the VIN in the link and don't pay for it

 

That's what I figured. Either aftermarket badges or aftermarket seats

 

The TRD has the 110V plug in the right rear of the bed.

 

My TRD Offroad came with leather seats from the dealer since day 1

 

Some dealers install leather for you, probably the katskinz covers. Could be a person ordered new and asked for the leather, or it's from Canada. Whatever happened the US tacoma's don't have factory leather as any sort of option.

 

As others have said, it can still be a TRD. Dealers especially in GST and SET distributor areas often have a lot of dealer added accessories including leather.

And only recently did Toyota start leaving the SR5 badge off of the TRD's.

It's because these are all packages built off a single base truck, not true "grades" like some cars have LE/SE/XLE, etc.

 

mine came with kaskins from the dealer here in Ausitn also. TRD 4x4 OR, DCSB, 2013.

My dealer did offer a leather package

I told him to check for the TRD features to make sure. The wheels don't look like the right wheels though
