Question. Do you actually have a passenger sitting in the front passenger seat in that position? Or is this the amount of space you give your kid when no one is riding up front?

My gf has a 4 year old that was in a car seat when I bought my access cab, the seat fit in the back but left little leg room for the front passenger. He's currently in a booster seat now and the only problem now is when he passes out he slides all over the place because the access cab back seat is so small.

imo its not as bad with the car seat in the access cab, but it is a pretty tight fit...

My girls are 10 and 7. The car/booster legroom/seat clearance problem solved itself as they grew. As they grow, the child seat shrinks and makes more room for their legs in my DCSB. I am 5'9", so the taller child sits behind me. My wife is fairly tall at 5'7", but there is still plenty of legroom for the younger child behind her. We are down to a single booster for the 7-year old, and looking forward to the day when it is no longer necessary.

No money, all went to truck...
I have 2 kids and I have a DCSB with bakflip. It works. Used to have a 97 4runner and that was really good too. I miss the large rear space and access to it while in the truck. But I do like the ability to haul wet, muddy stuff in the tacoma.

A van probably is the most ideal BUT THERE'S NO CHANCE IN HELL I AM EVER DRIVING A MINIVAN.

I have owned 2 minivans. They don't return your man card when you sell them. It's gone for good.

I have a 3 y/o and I get by with the Access Cab. But in the interest of full disclosure 9 times outta 10 when my kid is riding with me it's just me and her. I just turn the front air bag off and put her booster seat in the front. Me, my wife and my daughter can all ride in it for short trips. (<30min) For example we can all ride to lowes or the flea market. Road trips are pretty much outta the question. But we've got a 2013 Accord for trips.

I have three kids (ages 7, 7, and 5) and they all fit in the back seat of my DCSB on a daily basis when I take them to school. But when I take the whole family on long trips it gets cramped in that cabin, with all the clothes, snacks, drinks, books and iPads. I deal with it because I like having a pickup bed for hauling my bikes and outdoor gear, and for household projects. But the primary kid mover is my wife's minivan - which I refuse to drive because, well, if you're on TW you know why!

If my vehicle had to be the primary family vehicle, I would get a 4Runner with the 3rd row seating (and an OME lift of course). In fact, we're likely replacing our minivan with a 4Runner this year!

LOL... great question. That's how it is 80% of the time - pushed all the way forward so my daughter has lots of space. The other 20% of the time the front seat is occupied by my 5'3 wife or other females about the same height. With the front passenger seat pushed back in the mid position it still leaves enough space for my little girl though.
