thats a good question. I saw a guy on here somewhere with a shell (an ARE i think) on his 2nd gen that actually was for a 1st gen. im not sure if they are interchangeable from 1st to 2nd gen, or how he got it to fit, but i think width-wise, the 1st gen is only 1 inch wider. i can't remember what member on here it was, but i would like to know aswell since i'm in the market for a shell too.

I'm interested, too. Go measure it, that way you'll know for sure. And let the rest of us know.

I recently just purchased a used shell for my 07 ac 6' bed and looked for months! The second gen shells actually use the track system to mount unlike the traditional c clamp system for the 1st gens. I have been told no but I'm sure you could possibly rig something.

Did you ever figure out if you can mount a 1st gen top on a 2nd gen? I am very interested in doing this.

I'll get some pics from my brother's truck this weekend. we have a gen 1 cap on gen 2.

the gen 1 cap is taller due to the bed height and is about an inch less wide. however you can get them on with the track clamps (I found them online for $12 a piece).

It will fit had one on mine off of my first gen. like others said it will be a little tall on a second gen and slightly narrower. I had to mess with the clamps on mine to make them work. You will also have a gap at the front due to the side rails being higher.

Thanks guys. Look forward to those pics. If it were in the budget, I would find a 2nd gen topper, but not with a baby on the way.

as a note. looking at both of the Undercover hard tonneaus I picked up this weekend I notice the 05+ beds are wider at the cab and taper towards the tailgate
