Help. The outer shell of my firestick cracked open today. Should I cut the rest off and get some heatshrink that's large enough?

As long as no metal was damaged you're fine. I would probably just liquid electric tape over the crack to seal it a bit and then wrap it up real good with electric tape once that dries.

I had one just like it. I think I gave it away before I ever even used it though. It's a cheaper meter but they all do the same task. I have a bunch and they all read the same. From cheapos to more expensive meters.

Ever use 2 antennas? I saw a few truckers doing it and on firesticks website, they have some dual packages.

Don't bother. They are a huge PITA to tune not to mention you won't have any better performance than a single antenna set up.

Garage door, parking decks, tree limbs, drive through bars... Also I wouldn't bother with 2 antennas. Truckers can get by because the width on the mirrors.

I'm running a Wilson 1000 mag mount. If you don't mind an antenna on the roof it's the best way to go.

This is a great antenna; and the best location.

But it would never survive there for me in the woods. I just got a Wilson Flex to put on the hood. Not the best location - but a better ground plane than in the rear.

I'll just repair mine and see if it works the same. If not I'll get a new one.

I beat the piss out of mine in the woods. Never had I come off, it's a pretty rugged antenna.

I had a white Firestik than I wrapped with electrical tape to make it black. Worked just as before, still the same crappy antenna. :D

Mounted my firestick 2 on the ARB Bumper.. Drilled out the right hand side mount on the hoop to run the wire through the bars. No wire showing. Wife has been yelling at me over it though. 'looks ugly' 'ugly shit' 'wtf is that'

got the whole system for 'free' so I cant complain.

A couple of the guys that went to Hurricane creek last month had fiberglass antennas on their bumpers, front and rear, and had pretty good SWR. The front corner of the bed is just not a good place, works good enough on the trail though.

Yeah - it's just that last summer, I found myself driving under downed trees quite a bit - where someone had already cut a tunnel thru the branches. I was clearing the trunks with inches to about a foot to spare.
