first off ive read a lot but now my time is limited! just looking for advice on my truck and lift options. this is my first time lifting a truck so here it goes...its an 09 dclb

heres what I have so far

    I have an OME lift
    885 coils,90000 struts, n182 shocks, pro comp 17x8 rims 4.5" bs

im probably going to go with an aal setup for now (just replaced some broken leafs)

so heres my ques: I was thinking on lifting 2.5" in the front to avoid having to buy new control arms..good idea?
should I go with a 275 70 17 or 285?? want the least amount of rub and I do minimal offroading, but I want the look most guys have here.
should I get the carrier bearing drop and the trim packer??

please feel free to give ur .02 cents worth on how I should go about this in preferably a cost affective way

    thanks
    sleepy dad

With 2.5" in the front you might need UCAs. Some people don't need them and some people do. On my last truck I needed them at 2.5".

Looks good except the idea that you are not going to need control arms. If you are going to put wheels and tires on and any lift, my .02 is new UCA's. Also, the tire size. I have 2.5 in the front and 285's. I had to trip some plastic, wasn't bad (I closed my eyes), but I have heard you can get away with 275 with a 3 inch lift. I am not sure if that .5 inches is going to make a difference in that. If you like your MPG, you will go with 265's, I dropped about 5-6 MPG going with 285's.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but 885's give you the full 3 inches, right?

whats the cheapest control arm route? the only reason I was just gonna do the 2.5" instead of 3" was to avoid spending $800 on uca's...

    885's = 2.5"
    Plan on uca's - i am needing them with only 2" 884's
I did 1.5 aal no vibes in the back but the front vibes @ 35mph
Ozt runs 275/70's on 2.5" lift looks good and says odometer is dead on

Congrats on the kid, your boys can swim!! Get those mods done now, i have a 3yo and new 8mo old baby, brand new stereo and some other items purchased for mods sitting in my garage collecting dust so get er done now!!

    Good luck

I paid $410 from Wheelers, then I found headstrong who sells them for $375. Even Amazon has them for $420.

3" Lift with UCA, Grillecraft grille, XD rims w/ 285/70r17 duratracs, leer xq cap,
I have a 3" lift with the stock UCA's and have no issues alignment is spot on. Unless your going to off road with it quite a bit I would go with all terrain's many have a great aggressive look to them such as the duratracs and you won't suffer with gas milage and road noise as bad.

Same here, in fact im at the .85 clip on 8500 with the OME spring and 1/4 plate up top, stock uca and alignment is in spec.

I though it push it but so far so good, UCAs are on my list but need to recoupe coin first
