    So I got the AEM 320 lph E85 approved from a member here, but it comes with a pre filter, how do I go about putting in an inline? Should I even bother? The pre filter looks like it wont filter much.

    Ok,

    First, my fuel pump is now changed. Logged AFR was OK (TRD SC with 2.85 pulley, TRD CAI Pro Dry, DTLT headers, TRD catback) until i've added the DT Y-pipe. Adding it had an important impact on my AFR curve. Keep in mind that the OEM FPR mod was done on my truck. With the Y pipe it became impossible to maintain an AFR between 11-11.5 over 4500 rpm.

    I have few question in mind about the FPR mod and would be curious to look at explanations from experienced guys like TOR. Please correct me if i'm wrong and excuse my English.

    Ok first, the base of the theory for doing FPR MOD is to increase fuel and avoid starving at boost. Let say stock pressure in the FI circuit to be close to 44 psi. People saying that cause there is a positive pressure in the inlet manifold (ex: 7 psi), the absolute injection pressure will be 44 psi - 7 psi = 37 psi. By doing the FPR mod you're applying the pressure from the inlet (7 psi) manifold to the diaphragm of the FPR so it will raise the pressure in the FI circuit at 44 psi + 7 psi = 51 psig so the absolute pressure of the fuel injected will be maintain to 44 psi (51-7=44). It supposed to help not starving the truck (when no fuel pump mod done).

    My problem is that more pressure in the FI circuit doesn't mean more fuel flow. It maybe produces a better vaporisation of the fuel but not more fuel flow. In fact if the FPR mod raised the pressure (restrictive circuit) in the FI circuit, fuel flow will go down so the result gonna be worst.

    I have the FPR mod and cause of the new fuel pump, i'm fine tuning my AFR curve now. When I,ll be satisfied with it, i will record a run and then undo the FPR mod and record a new run so we can compare.:confused:

    We can see pretty well the impact of adding the Y-pipe and adding the fuel pump.

    The FPR mod is not to help give extra fuel when no the fuel pump is not upgraded. It is to help the injectors flow extra fuel because they will be at a higher fuel pressure than stock, when under boost.

    The fuel pump should still be upgraded BEFORE of the FPR mod. As the increased pressure on the stock pump will tax it even more. Increase pressure on a fuel pump, and it decreases output. Not wise to do on a stock fuel pump.

    Same as you but it seems to me that a lot of poster in many threads saying to do FPR mod at least if not upgrading pump.

    My FPR mod was done with the stock pump but as you can see, i'm always monitoring my AFR and the impact of changes i'm doing. :D

    It's funny to see how important is the impact of the new pump on the FI circuit and the resulting AFR.

    I lately realize when tuning the trims that most of them remain correct in mid to high TPS, RPM and in boost but have to add fuel at low TPS (16 to 24%).

    My fuel map (MAF cal.) is almost ready now so when i have time i will to the compare for FPR mod and no mod in exact same conditions.

    I have a 04 manual tacoma and recently when I get gas it sputters usually when im going from 2nd to 3rd. It feels like if its not getting fuel. Could it be a fuel filter or fuel injectors? Today it turned off as I was turning and at a light.

    Could be those two things and or a vacuum leak. How many miles does your truck have?

    Ok almost a year ago i've said that i will come back with data log showing the impact of the OEM FPR mod.

    I'm still working on the truck and i was removing the MAF controller, so i've removed the FPR mod and done a log session and the day after, re-install it and done an other log session. So you will find the result in the document attachement.

    I was a bit surprise after removing the MAF controller cause remember how rich was the mixture at WOT before the installation. This time it's not the case cause you'll see that the ECU is maintaining a steady AFR of 11 at WOT in 3rd gear. I'm not sure if it's the reason of it, but we had to add and soldered a little piece of electrical wire for the MAF signal and the gauge is way to large for a 5v signal (it's propably a 12 or 14 gauge). It seems to act as a resistance and offset the signal, maybe. If it's really that, but the AFR is steady as never, maybe a bit on the safe side for a forced induction but i've seen worst. I will correct that later but like said, at least i know i'm on the safe side.

    So with the stock setting the AFR is between 11.5 and move to 12 at higher rpm. With the FPR mod (with the same setup)the FPR is almost stready at 11.
