I was looking into one too awhile back. I had a Chevy with a 40 series and I really liked the sound. But in the tacoma just sounds like its trying to over compensate. That's just my opinion. No disrespect.

I ran a 50 series on one of my trucks. Ok sound, but the quality of the muffler was junk for the cost. It only lasted a few years before it rotted. I do live in a colder climate.

I don't like it, that's just my 2c. It has kind of a ricer sound to it.

Now I can't make up my mind, I was set on TRD and now that 10series sounds so good I'm just as undecided as ever. I'll have to hear that clip about 20more times.

Replaced the muffler. Stock pipes dumped over the axle with a resonated tip.

I had a 40 on my landcruiser and hated it, loud and droned like crazy.

V6's with exhaust sound like crap, spend your money on better things.

In every exhaust thread, someone always complains how bad V6's inherently sound. Can't agree with you. There are good systems out there for V6's that sound great. If all you do is splice in a muffler, your results will be commensurate with your effort. As with any mod, If you're not willing to spend what's needed to get the result you want, then you're right and the money should be spent elsewhere.

HA! that doesnt mean everyone else is going to hate it cause its loud and drones like crazy, let alone think that V6's with exhaust sound like crap. DylansBase got his 44 welded on his TACOMA yesterday and it sounds amazing, but then again i have no clue what your landcruser sounds like. im just sayin, no hate just expressing my opinion like you :p

Honestly, try to find a shop that can temp clamp a muffler on ur truck before u make a decision. The drone at 65-70 with the OG flow master 40 was crazy.

Maybe the delta is improved tho.

As for claims that a v6 sounds this or that with an exhaust or muffler is kinda narrow minded. There's tons and tons of options out there.

Heck 1 muffler, 2 mufflers, resonators...... There's many ways to get the sound one wants...... Trust me, I'm on the 2 muffler bandwagon I think. I have too much rasp, but its NOT the mufflers fault. Remove cats, and this is the problem I brought upon myself and its very common.

The stock setup sounds weak IMHO...... These trucks are not beasts, but damn. For having 200 whp roughly, the stock setup sounds pathetic. Whats wrong with someone wanting to make their truck sound mean.... Shit, the older 3.4 bone stock sounded more aggressive than these I think.

Exhaust companies are doing quite well financially, and the price of a muffler isn't huge, so its way to give ur ride a quick bit of character.

Dennis made a good choice on the 10 series, i am definitely installing one on my new Taco.
I live in alaska and we make'em loud lol, but i will be moving to ft. myers, Florida.
Anyone one know if there is a sound ordinance or regulation for aftermarket mufflers?
    cheers!

Go stainless or you'll be replacing the setup in 4-6 years.

I had a catback setup with 50 muffler. The factory weld joints at the inlet/outlet of the muffler rusted thru after 4 years.

Funny...but I had the rest of the connections welded locally, and they held up just fine.
