FS (Bay Area): 2000 Tacoma Xtracab 4x4 V6 Auto TRD. Built

TRUCK HAS BEEN SOLD

I'm selling my 2000 Black Mica Pearl Tacoma Xtracab 4x4 V6 TRD Automatic with 215k. Clear title. I love this truck and hate to sell it but I have too many vehicles and need to make room and free up cash for investments. I began listing parts to put it back to stock before sale but it's set up so nicely as is right now in a way many can appreciate and enjoy while saving about 50% of building a similar Tacoma (about $18k). It's in a great state of build right now to enjoy for daily driving, camping, overlanding for many more years, or to take to the next level with SAS, Mid-travel, long-travel, etc.

Despite being well prepared for off road it has only been to Hollister once, easy fire roads a few other times, and the rest of the time it was almost all highway miles up and down CA. The truck runs perfectly and has absolutely no mechanical problems. Just about any wear item I can think of that may be of concern has been replaced or rebuilt in the last few years as preventative maintenance. I have a big file full of receipts for all work and parts. Full build thread can be found in my signature. It has been used gently as a 4x4 so it has light scratches from bushes on some of the tighter trails but no major dents (a few almost unnoticeable small ones) and only very minor surface rust underneath. Most of the scratches can be buffed out so they will barely be visible and I will post pictures after this has been done.


Compression leakdown test about a year ago showed results of high150s accross all cylinders within ~5. Nothing has happened since to change this. Last year/~8k miles ago the transmission received a performance/upgraded rebuild by Scotts Valley Transmission to be stronger and includes a custom shift program, upgraded parts and external oil cooler.
Front axles and rear axle seals were been replaced about 3 months ago.
Battery is about 18mos old.

I bought the truck in 2010 with 160k miles and immediately replaced absolutely anything on it that could be of concern at higher mileage. including:

Radiator and cap
Water Pump
Thermostat
Fuel filter
Carrier bearing
Coils, Wires, Plugs (plugs have been replaced on schedule since)
MAF sensor

Mods
OME 882 front coils
OME top place spacers
OME Nitrocharger sport shocks all round
OME Dakar leaf springs, OME D6XL AAL
OME shackles
265/75/16 Toyo Open Country MT with 80% tread remaining, about 10 mos old
Tundra front brakes with 6k miles on them (work awesome!) Includes Centric rotors, pads, and braided stainless lines.

PIAA 510 crystal white fog lights
Budbuilt front skid

Warn M8000 winch. Used (correctly) about 5 times in about 15 months but run/respooled occasionally just to check and keep everything lubricated.g

2 CDT 8" subs in custom enclosures in rear speaker wall locations
Raammat and Ensolite sound deadnening everywhere except roof. Despite having 33x11.5 MTs the cabin is surprisingly quiet because of all the sound deadning.
Brand new headlights only to replace fogged old ones.
I'm probably forgetting something but that's all the significant upgrades.


Some of these pics are a little out dated as they don't show the Elite rear bumper and blacked out grille, new headlights and clear corner lights, but you get the idea. I'll post new ones after a throrough wash and wax.

The truck is mechanically sound but since it has some minor cosmetic "trail character" I'd put this truck right between Good and Fair condition overall. KBB "Fair" value is $6,000. Building a similar truck costs about $18k and I am willing to let it go for $11k OBO as is. Lower offers will be considered if some aftermarket upgrades are not included.

I'd love to sell the truck as-is and the buyer would be getting a great rig for a great price but if nobody wants it complete the first aftermarket parts to be sold individually are:

Audio components
Camper shell
Front and crossmember skids
Diff Skid
Elite rear bumper
Elite front bumper, winch, line, thimble, hawse fairlead
wheels and tires, but I would need trade back on 16" stock wheels and tires that fit over the Tundra brakes.

I don't really want to switch back to stock suspension or cut off the rock sliders. While its doable, the amount of work involved just doesn't seem to be worth the money.

Lots of interest in bumpers etc. But if you have a tacoma thats similar to mine and closer to stock, just sell it and buy one thats already built and save a ton of money time and work.

 

I'm in the camp of trying to find someone looking for a truck, and convincing them to buy it, then convincing them to sell me the bumpers....lol. .....maybe the wheels and tires too....

Bumps. Are not a problem with this truck's suspension, tires, and armor! Make me an offer on the complete truck. I am trying to stack money for real estate.

 

I made a mistake, the tires have WAY more than 65% remaining. Need to measure but I'd guess 80%.
