09 Access Cab Sub Install

Components
Rockford Fosgate P300-1
Pioneer Premier 10" shallow sub
Pioneer box for 10" shallow sub
Fabricated aluminum brackets
8 Ga RF wiring kit

This method preserves the ability of the access cab to carry large items that need to go across the cab door to door. That was a basic requirement for me.

I had already removed the rear seats, headrests, and seat belts. If I wanted to carry people back there I would have bought a double cab.


Bracket fabbed from 1/8" x 2" alunminum bar stock and pop rivets.


Bracket test fit. Bracket bolts to seat mount holes using the existing bolts.


Amp bolted to bracket.


Power wire fed through one of the seatbelt mount bolt holes. Other one plugged.


Amp installed. Note bracket legs trimmed to clear bin doors.


Sub installed. Slide the box one way or the other to get into storage bins.


Sounds pretty good so far. I still need to play with the settings which is easy since the amp controls are easily accessible from the top.

Nice post, it appears that this is a permanent mount.
For those with an access cab who may want to do the same, consider this; not only are the rear seats no longer usable (they were removed along with the center console), the under seat storage compartments are not accessible as the kicker box is mounted on top of them. The factory jack is located in the passenger side storage compartment.

 

No, not a permananet mount. Need to keep access to the storage bins so I don't have it bolted down. Note in the picture above how the brackets are trimmed to allow clearance for the bins to open. The lower brackets keep the speaker box from sliding forward and I have a short strap (bungee for now) connecting a ring bolted to the top rear of the box to the lower inboard LATCH anchor point. That keeps it from tipping forward while braking. Tested it in a panic stop in a parking lot and works fine. To get at the bins just unhook the strap and slide the box to either side. I left enough speaker wire to go either way.

Thanks, man! Also makes it easy to demo other subs. I have a friend who builds them and he has a few he wants me to hear. I hope I don't like them so much I need to upgrade already. ;-)
