It wasn't the first date, but an old gf's father did proudly show me his Taurus Raging Bull .50 cal in one hand and his Colt .45 in the other. I was more impressed than I was intimidated, though.:D

That to me seems like a lot of cash for a 2WD Reg Cab with over 70K.

    excalis,

I would try to bring that price down a bit BUT buying your daughter a Toyota is a great idea.....Mine got an older Camry and my son a used 4x4 Tacoma ( if I'm going to maintain or at least help $$$$;) ) it will be something I trust...

With that "Image" on the drivers side I would make sure it was NOT a "Parts runner"...That carfax did say who previous owners were ,correct???

    Snoope back quiet

Like many others have said $8k is too much for that truck unless you have to have something tomorrow.

If you spend some time looking you should find a better deal. For example, I just got an 02 xtra cab prerunner for less than they are asking, and it's loaded, but more miles, 110k. It only took about 2 weeks of looking and it was only an hour away.

Of course, your experience may differ.

We ended up with a Honda Accord instead, the sales guy never responded to my emails about the price. We were wanting to travel to the location over the weekend and look at it. Oh well, he didnt email until Monday, I let him know it was to late.

We ended up with a 2002 Honda Accord with 69,000 miles, one owner, purchased new from the same place we just bought it from. The Car Fax noted all of the oil changes, etc and the vehicle was clean as can be.

It will suit her better since it has more room and it is still a 4 cylinder vehicle so the gas mileage should still be good. $8,750 is what we paid for the Honda.

Thanks all for the suggestions, I reallt wanted her to have a Tacoma. Maybe next time!

I traded a 2002 Accord in on my Tacoma. It was the best built car I have ever owned. I bought it new and put 86,000 miles on it. It never had a single problem. I averaged about 24 mpg in mixed driving. Good choice IMO.

I'll get some pics of the car up for you all. The next thing is to tint the windows and it will make for a nice looking first car for her.

Here is the Honda I got instead, wished for the truck but oh well. This should look better with tinted windows. Was hard to get some pics since she has been driving it quite a bit.

I have only seen some regular wear inside and some minor scuffs on he rear bumper that looked as if someone used white-out to repair. Overall it is a nice vehicle and should last a while (hopefully).

I knew the dice would bring a comment, but it's her first car let her be proud and enjoy it. It's for the Dallas Cowboys! :)

I recall when we test drove the car my wife saying that it felt weird when accelerating. I didn't think much of it but after we bought it i did some research and it turns out that the Honda Accords from I beileve 2000-maybe 2004 had some pretty bad tranny problems.

Turns out they even had some kind of lawsuit due to the issues. Well, I began to panic and did some checking on the VIN which came back as not being one of the vehicles with tranny problems. They had a site that would check so that was cool. I felt a bit better about it and thought maybe it was normal.

I decided to take it in anyway as the vehicle had a 60day/3000 mile warranty and I did buy into extended warranty and wanted it to get fixed ASAP if something was wrong. Turns out, the tranny is slipping and will need to get fixed/replaced. I haven't even made the first payment and we have only had it about a month maybe. They said they submitted the claim but I needed to have a vehicle or something to drive.

They did provide a loaner until it gets fixed but I am hoping that I do not encounter any more problems with this car. It only has 70ish k miles, I could understand if it were a Dodge, Ford, or maybe Chevy but not a reputable Honda. I wish I had gotten the Tacoma now.
