So I was cleaning up the truck today because of all the pollen (fruitless attempt btw) and I got to looking at my truck and started wondering why everyone is so desperate for a redesign? I can semi understand maybe a diesel option but the body style is still relevant in my opinion?

Am I the only one that thinks this way? Open for discussion.....

I completely agree. Until there are some major design flaws or the new technology leaves the current model behind, I don't see a reason for a redesign.

I like how the body style stays the same year after year. Makes my truck seem newer. Haha

I don't even like that they moved away from the 1st gen style. I miss the "small" pickup truck

this, more or less. The engine has plenty of power but could be more efficient. and -1 to the first person to say "if you want better mpg buy a prius".

I really like the body style and the front end.

If they kept it small I would have never gone with the taco.
I like the smaller trucks but the 1st gen was a tad small for me.

No body re-design or square headlights for me but I'd like to see an engine update as Tacoma is the only U.S. Toyota 1GR-FE not using Dual VVT-i.

I still average about 20 MPG (in decent weather) but I wouldn't think it would be out of line for Toyota to up the fuel mileage, even full size Chevys are getting 20 mpg and have quite a bit more payload capacity. Even more baffling to me is the 4.0 used in the 4-Runner makes (allegedly) about 30 more HP...

I like the overall look of the truck but feel it could use some polishing up engine, capacity, and fuel consumption.

Enjoy your $65 pileups. It costs $100 (Canadian) to fill mine. About $91 US.

No money, all went to truck...
Imagine a redesigned tacoma that had an engine with comparable HP but got 25-30 MPGs? How amazing would that be?

We get paid more than more Americans so out higher gas prices are part of that. Same with higher taxes. Also dual vvti only gives more hp. Not torque.

Hopefully by the time I get back into one it will have a more fuel efficient and powerful engine.

I don't see the need for a full redesign either. Maybe they could update the engines and transmissions, but I would rather they be reliable than be the newest design on the block.
