Could someone take a few min. Of there time and help me out with a susp. Question. Mostly out of ignorance and for the sake of knowing.

Directed at the rear. At higher speed is a softer pack going to handle/ride better? And the shock just keeps it from bouncing? Or do you want a stiff pack?

I see tons of info on what setup to run just wondering what you are going after for a good off road ride.

A softer pack will ride better, but you want to make sure you have enough right height so you have enough up travel. Stiffer packs carry more weight so it really depends how much weight you plan on carrying in the back.

I have a 3 leaf pack and my truck rides like shit when unloaded but I hit bumps constantly while unloaded I would not want to go any more then 2" higher in the back would prefer 1.5 or less nothing like y'all do just unmaintained roads but want to get good performance. I don't haul more then bicycles or canoes on a normal basis.

Been on business travel for almost a year. Live in SD but work half the time in LA. Glassworks is on the way so I just picked them up on the way to LA. Not going back for three weeks so I don't want them hanging out the back of my truck.

I think the reaction most people were having was "what the hell is that guy carrying" Some guy asked if I was working on the air conditioning haha

Can't a guy have a romantic evening with his bedsides in a hotel? :p

Surprised you could tell it was a hotel.

Thanks guys! If those are the main reasons for having one, i think im just gonna wrap the tank in aluminum and reinforce the mounts.

If i roll over I just gotta make sure Ive got the extinguishers close by.

I just heard clearing smog is a bitch in california. RJ you gonna register in NV

As much as moving the tank to the rear helps with weight distribution, it aalso makes your truck ride much different with a full tank vs a near empty tank. Something to take in consideration as well.

I have been exploring this mod as well but for expo purposes IE: I want a bigger tank for more range so I was going to cut out the OE spare tire holder under the bed and mount a larger fuel cell back there. From the research I have done the only restrictions in CA will be that you must reuse all the OE fuel neck, sending and vapor recovery pieces. I have been told the only trick to that is just having someone make you a customer adapt plate to mount the OE fuel pump to the fuel cell.

    Anyone confirm ?

I plan on adding a second tank from an early Toyota truck 1990~, they were mounted on the passenger instead of the driver side. Not sure if it would be CARB legal but it is a stock tank from a Toyota truck, same as the current one just on the other side of the drive shaft. They came with a capacity of up to 19 gallons and that would give me 36 gal total. Low CG, and weight balance! Just have to re-route the exhaust!

Don't have to give up the spare tire location or bed space!

I don't know of anyone that has done this but I don't see any reason why it would not work.
