Update 7/31/19: Sold the truck today. The new owner (Dustin) got himself a sweet rig!

I wasn't sure anyone would care about what I've done but I've had a few requests for pics & such so I figured I'd just start a build thread with some pics and a list of what I've done if nothing else to help me keep track of what I've done over the years. I had planned to keep this truck stock when I bought it but that was before I discovered this forum. Damn you TacomaWorld!

So here's my truck the day I got it... all farmer John'd up. 22k or so miles and CPO'd for a screamin' deal from a Toyota dealership near me. It had a dealer installed TRD supercharger which is what I was looking for and, to be honest, was the last color I wanted. It's not that I dislike the color it's just that my most recent Toyota truck, a Tundra, as the same color. I had hoped to find something in a Speedway Blue or Radiant Red but when I found this truck it was simply a deal I couldn't pass up.

The day I got it at the dealership:

Here's how it stands today after a few mods:

Oh, the pictures of it at my house in the first post must not be loading for you. You city folks and your crazy iPads & iPhones w/o Flash. You city slickers feel the need to head up into the hills to test out your truck's abilities since it just sits in traffic otherwise. I call it runing into town for some ammo on a Tuesday. ;) :D

Yeah, that's pretty much how I did it. There's a few threads that discuss the details for sizes, lengths & options. I used some bolts & square nuts that I got at Home Depot but I wouldn't recommend doing it this way as they don't stay put very well. There is a machined nut that is made specifically to fit these rails. It's a little bit more expensive but probably worth it and I plan to swap them out this summer once I order them.

I wanted a scooped hood and was lucky enough to find one on Craigslist weeks after I bought the truck. It was Speedway Blue though so I needed to get it painted. Body work ended up costing a lot more than I remembered it costing so it sat in my garage for a year or so. I finally finished my Satoshi grill and since it was chrome I had an excuse to get everything painted at once and got it all painted and the color math was perfect. Quite happy with the results. Here's the hood in the back of the truck after I got it home from Denver:

Here's the Homelink module that I installed in the headliner. I picked it up at a junk yard for less than $20 and the install was pretty simple. Found a constant 12v inside of the overhead console and tapped into that and the ground for power. Then marked the headliner for the holes and cut out a diamond shape from the headliner for everything to clear. Then mount the module from the rear and snap the faceplate in plate to hold it and viola! Factory look Homelink!

Up next is the radar detector. It's a Passport Escort 9500xi w/GPS and I used a custom mirror bracket it to mount it. You can find the details to the bracket in my sig if you're interested but it's only a few dollars worth of parts. I then routed my remote mute button to the coin tray. Not the most creating mute button I've done on past vehicles but it works.

I just didn't feel like I really have any mods compared to some of the heavily modded trucks I've seen. It also feels quite tame compared to past vehicles I've owned so it wasn't until I sat down to type up a list that I realized how much stuff I've really done to this pig. I guess I shoulda just done one from day one but I really didn't plan to do too many mods.

I have to show off the bumper sticker (stuck to the last piece of chrome on the truck) the wife got me for Christmas a couple of years ago:

Your rig is BA, you are just comparing it to other Colorado tacos. Go look at the Hawaii region and you will see a lot more street trucks. Now many of those are slammed with totally different mods than what we usually hear about but they are no less impressive. I give you shit about the garage queen but I really do like it.
Oh and I was only going to put sliders and 33" tires on my truck, you see what happened to that idea.

I hadn't really planned on splashing this photo all over the internet but it's kind of made the rounds over the years anyway so here's my truck gun mounted to the roof using a Santa Cruz electric lock and buttstock bracket that you would find in a police cruiser. It has a keyed lock but it also has an electric solenoid that is connected to the trunk pop output on my DEI alarm system. This means I can use the button on the remote key fob or the app on my phone to release the lock. Once I realize the lock the swings down and out of the way thanks to the assistance of gravity and I can grab my rifle down in case the zombiepocalypse happens while I'm out getting groceries or something. lol I hate how the FDE furniture clashes w/my gray interior so I've got the new Magpul Stealth Gray furniture en route to replace these. Should look much better in the truck. Haha!

I have seen the Hawaiian Tacomas... in person.

Actually, the one we rode in while out there was pretty decked out 2nd gen with lockers & such. I doubt we woulda got where we spear fished w/o it as it was some of the most rugged terrain I've ever seen man. Pretty hair hour and a half trek one-way to get to our spot and that Tacoma was a beast!

Mine is a glorified garage queen because I just don't want to get it all jacked up with scratches and damage and such. I know you fellers see that is a battle scar worthy of bragging but I see it as a repair that my OCD won't let slide. :p

You got sliders at least! :D

Installed a K&N CAI to get rid of the stock airbox that I disliked the look of and then opted for a aFe CAI Pro Dry instead. Here's how it sits now:
