I have searched around the forums a lot and found many people with similar questions that have been answered, but I haven't found anyone who was looking for a tire with the same criteria I have. In my searching around the forums I have read many reviews on a lot of tires, but I'd still like to ask the community for a recommendation on a tire for my needs.

I want an A/T tire in a 285/70R17 for my DCLB Tacoma! Can you provide a recommendation based on the following:
    -90% of miles are highway
-These tires will see zero snow or ice (I have dedicated winter tires for those 7 months of the year)
-I do not really care about road noise
-I care about mpg a little, but it's not a main priority
-I do care about on road performance
-These tires will see a lot of slick clay-mud in the spring
-These tires will see a lot of rock and dry soil in the summer/fall, but not much sand
-I intend to spend a lot of time (but small percentage of total miles) on un-maintained trails

So far I'm leaning towards General Grabber AT2's or Yokohama Geolander A/T-S's. I'm slightly concerned about the Geolanders small voids getting packed with mud easily. What do you think about these tires for my needs, and do you have any other (better) suggestions?

    Thanks!

I like the Michelin AT2'S.... but i'am mostly on road than off, they are quiet and ride great, I haven't tried the other brands but I'm sure any of them would be fine, it just what you like the best, good luck on your new tires. SDC10286_zps1061c412_1672c38d4251f78d8deafac6de79fe4d95e5502e.jpg

I love my Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs! They have performed extremely well, still going strong after 40,000 miles. Dealer asked if I even wanted a rotation because they look so new still.

    Great tires.

Maybe consider something like one of the new hybrid AT/MT tires like Mickey Thompson ATZ P3. The larger spaces between the lugs might clear out the muck better.

Im also fairly interested in this topic. Im about to make a decision between Falken WildPeak A/T's and Cooper Discoverer AT/3's. Everbody seems to have a tire they like and it seems to come down to personal preference. My needs are similar to yours, so I'm looking forward to people's recommendations!

I like the write up on the Mickey Thompson website! I hadn't heard of these before, but I'll be doing some more research on them for sure. Thanks.

Cooper AT 3 are great tires, they do every thing good, rain, snow, dirt, mud and sand.
They run big I have the 275 70 17 I don't think 285s will fit I rub just a little on full lock.

I currently have the AT3's on my truck. I have a 100 mile commute each day to work. Its about 80% 4 lane highway and the rest 2 lane paved road no off road at all. the AT3's have not held up good at all. Uneven tread wear and I have had 2 alignments in the past year from different garages (including 1 toyota dealership). I'm putting new tires on today or tomorrow. After 26,000 miles I am not happy with these at all. I just called a local dealer and I can get the Mickey Thompson Baja STZ's for $165 ea. out the door.

Thanks for all the input guys. I've ordered a set of Mickey Thompson ATZ P3's. I'll give them a review in a couple weeks! Also, I decided to go with 305/65-17's. Because bigger.

I had the Mickey Thompson STZ's put on yesterday. I just couldn't pass on the price and the good reviews.

I am considering Mickey Thompson ATZ as well after having their MTZ for 6 years. Looking forward to hearing how you like them and some pics. What did you run before?
