MY98 - 33" BFG ATs, Bilstein 5100 shocks & struts, Firestone rear air-bag kit, Hawk LTS pads, Brembo rotors, 350k+ miles, frame patched together with snot, wood chips and man glitter. MY14 Forester - Who really cares. It runs, has an amazing audio system, but the engine is basically a 2-stroke.
After throwing 3" and 33's on my '98 extended cab, my wife won't stop whining about how much of a hassle to get in and out of my truck. I hate the look of nerf bars and can't justify spending $texas on a set, so after some searching I found a great deal on Dee Zee nerf bars in powdercoated-black.

Are any of you guys running these? TCW search revealed nothing of relevance for 1st Gen, as did Google. I'm about this >.< close to pulling the trigger but I'd like to know what I'm looking at before I finalize my order.

Pic of said Tacoma. 10 internets to the correct guess of the number of rearends that bumper kissed!:

Also, sliders aren't an option. I love the look but I'm not willing to go full-poser since I'd never actually put them to use. Oh, and $texas.

The best option is to go around to her side and grab her ass. She will either jump in or you can push her.

$Texas and I don't want to be a poser. I only hop medians, shrubs, and the occasional dead deer. The only thing sliders would do is protect from door dings.

I just placed the order because I want to install them before next weekend. I'll post up the results since there's little information out there.

FWIW, I have seen a lot of these black nerf bars rusting through. I'm going to be spraying the inside of the tube with a wax sealer if I can get an endcap off without damage.

if your just using them for a step get a cheap pair as you're not supporting any weight of the truck. I've been looking at the $140 ish pair online just to have door-ding protection in the parking garage and my apt lot

I purchased mine off a third-party vendor on Amazon for about $150. They actually look decent, a bit cleaner than I expected. I only wish that the rear mount wasn't so visible but that's pretty standard with these.

I sprayed the inside with Nox-Rust, a waxy corrosion-inhibitor, with a long 360* wand. I'm going to attempt to reinstall the front mudflaps to protect the exterior from external corrosion.

I have those same nerf bars in black. Stock 04 4x4 ext cab.

Functionally, probably not the most helpful as a step. I end up stepping over them on the way out and it makes it a little tougher. Dress pants get wet on the bar. Short girlfriend agrees it doesn't really make it easier.

I think they look pretty good though for $130. I don't regret the purchase. If sliders are an option I would get those instead any day of the week.
