Im considering some led bars and i have 2 options
I have a ton of fog, snow, and low visibility where i live and wheel 1/2 time of the year.

What is the performance difference or any difference for that matter between Amber led's instead of white vs White with amber filter ?

You will get better output from an amber lenses rather than putting an amber filter on a white lenses.

The amber LEDs will give you more useable output vs the amber cover on the white bar. The white bar with the cover gives you the option to use it in white when the weather doesn't require the amber LEDs.

With our lights and lenses, the amber LEDs put out a deeper amber color than the white LEDs with an amber lens (replacement lens not snap on cover). I have not tested with a snap on cover. It is possible to have both though in the same light as well. I have lights with amber on top and white on bottom and they can be operated in amber only, white only, or both.

These pictures aren't the best because I'm shining the light on a white wall about 15 ft away from me. The way the camera captures it, it makes the amber lens light look like it puts out a ton of white light still which it doesn't really do, it just doesn't have as deep an amber color.

The first pic is looking at a 12W pod (2x2) with amber lens.

The next 2 pics are a 12" white LED bar with replacement amber lens

Next 2 are a combo bar with the amber LEDs only.

    Hope that helps.

Amber LED's perform a lot better in low light condition as compared to lenses or snap covers.

    I'll get both and see.
    First order will be :
2/2 flood 5w led flush mount for rear bumper
2/2 spot w amber clip on 5w front bumper
10 inch single row driving light hood scoop
20/30 inch dual row spot w amber lenses

Second order I'll get amber led 30 and combo 20 and see what I like better.
Maybe post some comparison pictures in normal conditions and when I'm in the fog/ snow try
50 inch single row for roof rack

what the advantages/disadvantages of buying amber LED's or White LED's? not talking any covers or lenses here, just the differences between the two. why would I want one over the other? Thanks.

Amber is better for fog/snow/dusty conditions where the white light will reflect and make it hard to see.
