I've had to cut holes in ceilings to get a coil in the attic. And old supply and return boxes usually never match up to new units which can be a pain sometimes

Like them in general. Hated the 60 footer though. That thing was a bit much at times and an absolute bitch to haul around and set up.

Quality boots are a must for everyday ladder use. Some guys like the logger/lineman heel but the most important thing is a good fit and a fairly stiff sole otherwise your feet will hurt at the end of every day.

I take people rock climbing rappelling and through a ropes course. I definately enjoy being on ropes more than ladders but getting people down from the zip line I get to climb a ladder not on rope and its not a bit deal. Climbing telephone poles is definately more fun or rocks I like climbing those too

I wish I had a pic of the ladder I was on at work the other day. It's an aluminum extension at someone ran into with the fork truck. Bent one rail. I decided it wasn't worth grabbing the other ladder, so I manned up and climbed the 22 feet. The ladder was terribly unstable and flexed like crazy when I got to the middle. It held, so I survived. I actually went up and down several times for the adrenaline rush. Then I reported it to my boss like a good minion.

Another consideration is the wear on one's knees working in attics and crawlspaces for hours on end doing installs. OP is 22, he's probably not realized just how bad that is for him yet.

Yes, ladders do suck. But once you're on the roof, even if it's hot up there, at least you can go walk around if you need a break.

I did residential for a few years, been in some stupid tight places, and it's only going to get worse with time. The trend seems to be locating the inside unit in the attic, above an 8-10 foot ceiling. No more garage or hallway closet installs around here.
