    Is it the non-JBL unit?

    If it is non-JBL, and if Neil doesn't want it, I'll pick it up.

    pretty much.

    see ^^^

    you had it right the first time.

    would also need all the o-rings and seals for the front hubs, think it was $100 for both.

    it's definitely a good week of work. I did mine in stages; front end first, then the t-case and drive shaft, then the wiring and front drive shaft.

    I think the hardest part is sourcing the diff and transfercase. The rest of it is easy to find.

    Not to rain on everyone's 4x4 conversion parade (including me), but realistic question.. Can we/do we need recon to do a 4x4 conversion???

    I was also reading on the main forum about people doing the conversions, and one person chimed in that a resale of the vehicle could be difficult..

    I got lucky and got all the parts I needed off a donor truck for $1500, realistically getting a donor is the best way to do it to minimize costs.

    I've read through what is currently posted in the recon laws, and unless they have changed something, you can convert a 2wd to 4wd and pass if;

    the vehicle comes from the factory with that option and all of the parts(original equipment) bolt up without needing to modify the frame.

    I don't know how the SAS will pass, because our trucks never came with a straight axle...and to mount it up, you will need to modify the frame.

    I had my front end in for 2 years and the safety check places never noticed it.

    Oh boy...
    I think the SAS will work with Coilover springs instead of leafs as far as passing recon.

    you still have to cut the IFS system off the frame and do some frame strengthening welding. Also need to set up the bracket mounts for a 3/4-link setup.

    It sounds like Jesse is having a hard time passing with his conversion too. He needs an engineer to sign off on the frame mods, and also need to be a certed welder to do the welding, which I'm sure he is.

    Technically the recon book says if it was an origional option and bolts right up, then you don't even need a recon permit. But if you already have a recon for a lift or something then you are probably going to have to add it to the list.
